Default CZ Clone has taken over as #1 CCW

When I bought my SD9VE I thought it was great....I still do!! However I have a new #1 carry pistol...a Tri Star C100 CZ 75c clone. If this is only a clone, and it has impressed me like no other gun I have owned...... I have to save my pennies and get a real CZ!!! Not saying goodbye to my SD...I truly like that gun very much, but the C100 is amazing.

Turkish? Made by Canik?

Yes, you'd probably like the real CZ at least as well.

To see a CZ-75 in use in a TV series, go to The Lounge and check my topic on, "Sea Patrol." The Australian sailor lady firing it has one with the older spur hammer. Most or all now have the burr hammer like on your gun. Scroll down in that thread and click on my separate photo link to see the girl with the gun. That series often used CZ-75's as well as Browning 9mm's. No idea if this was a prop availability thing or if the Royal Australian Navy actually uses some CZ's.

My experience with a CZ-75B has been very positive: no jams and excellent accuracy and feels great in my hand. Priced right, too.

You do need to be VERY CAREFUL in lowering a hammer on a live round. As with a Colt, etc. They do offer a 75BD and other models that have a hammer-lowering safety.

^^^ yes the CZ 75BD is an awesome gun. Trigger is about 5#. I know because I just checked mine tonight. 9# in DA. This does not have a mag safety so beware/ careful. A round in the chamber goes boom without a mag. That's why I like my BD ..D stands for decocker..

That looks just like the CZ 75 D PCR Compact that my husband is determined to get, after trying my CZ 75B.

I'm with mbliss57, I really like my CZ 75BDs, both a full size and a Compact. Hard to find duty holsters for them and for that reason I haven't put mine in my duty rotation. But I carry them around my place here. Never had any ftf or fte either.

CZ's are a neat design that kinda reminds me of my Browning HP,

Currently have a CZ 75 Kadet, CZ 75B in SS and a 1994 CZ 85 (Pre B), that I really liked until the R side slide stop sheared off and found out CZ doesnt offer replacement parts for it anymore

I know I'm swimming against the stream here, but I've had four CZs or clones and got rid of them all. I just couldn't shoot them as well as I shot most everything else I owned....at least in terms of a Browning HP, my 5906, Beretta 92, and 39 no dash.

I had an "original" CZ 75 purchased from a fellow who brought it back from Germany PX when they weren't imported here plus two TZ75s which were really, really close to the CZ and a TriStar L120. I couldn't figure out what the problem was but they just didn't feel right or shoot right for me.

I kept going back to them because "everyone" said how great they were, and for them I'm sure they were great. But not for me. But it just goes to show....ya gotta take the gun in hand and shoot it and not just rely on the Interwebs for advice.

I agree about the SD9...I like that a lot. Had a bit of the Apex kits installed and a little polishing and it's a SHOOTER. And two of my other plastic guns seem to do me well: Walther PPX and SW990L. My metal guns....well, I've been winnowing out the safe from a bunch of good guns to a few really good guns. Recently acquired a Walther C5, Sig 226 to go with Sig P6 and, of all things, a Lahti M40.

Here's that pic of the CZ-75 with the longer hammer spur.

(Girl not included with purchase of any CZ product.)

I've heard a lot of good things about that Tristar. But call me kooky, I'll stick with my genuine CZ's (Not knocking)

I have a 75B in 40, P-07 in 9MM and a 2075 RAMI in 40 and 9MM. Also have a bunch of older CZ pistols.

I just took a closer look at the CZ in the photo link above. Has the right hand side safety, an ambidextrous one. Can't be a flipped transparency; the lettering on the girl's cap is correct. The gun must be a CZ-85.

Look carefully. You'll see the safety. I was too distracted by the actress to notice this the first time I looked.

Not to hijack thread. But I like my tristar atac shotguns.
Had 2 of them, only sold one of them to a buddy, because he couldn't find any around here for what I paid for mine.
They shot up in price $125 - $150 more in less than a year.

Gonna have to try a Tristar pistol soon. But I'm having too much fun with my sar k2p - cz clone.

Question

I'm not knocking the product, but wondering if anyone here has had any warranty claims?? How did it workout?

My CZ 75 SP01 has out shot my recent spate of 9mms - Taurus 92, old 459, 5906, Ruger P series, Kel Tec, Citadel 1911.... The gun is heavy, but I like it. My version has night sights.

I prefer cocked and locked.

I like my C100 a whole lot. Because of its lighter weight, it has replaced my cZ 7 Compact for daily carry.

When I bought my T120 they only gave a one year warranty. Don't know if that's changed since. I broke the firing pin just out of warranty. Called TriStar. The guy said he'd never heard of one breaking before. He asked for a mailing address and said it's on its way. No charge. Had it in less than a week.

I love the pistol. It seems to just fit my hand perfectly. It's definitely my current favorite. I have around 6000 rounds (best estimate) through it at this point.

Why would you not just have saved and not got the TriStar. And got a CZ?

Huh? They do! You get either a decocker or a 1911 like safety

Never mind. I'm thinking of CZ. I don't know all the clones

Yes. Definately an 85. It has safety and slide release on both sides with reversable mag release.

Jerichos - modified Tanfoglio clones made by the Israelis - can be had with a slide safety/decocker, much like a Beretta or S&W semiauto. They're now made/imported by Magnum Research as the Baby Eagle. One of them is on the wishlist to join my SP01 Tactical, though a 75BD comes first. I have enough familiarity with a slide safety from my 5903 that will transfer over nicely.

I agree with you, though, that if someone else made a CZ75 clone with a frame decocker, they would sell every one they could make.

The IDF / Israeli Defense Forces uses a CZ 75 design clone as well, called the "Jericho." IWI has brought them to the US.

Their design is based on the Browning Hi-Power indeed, as one poster pointed out.

I have the 75BD "Police" version, and it's the HD gun.

Has never had a malf in 500 rounds, built like a tank, feels great in the hand.

Just a follow up on the C100. The pistol is so good I actually think I have no reason to buy a real CZ or any other pistol.
Sighting is not like my SD9....the 3 dots on it are at the 6 o'clock position for best results and on the Tri Star they are dead center for best results. I did wish it had a decocker, but now I have adapted to it. Does seem strange to carry a pistol in condition one again. Have not done that in over 40 years.
The little additional weight it has is not bad, but is differently noticeable compared to the SD9VE over a day of carrying it. The grip is very comfortable with the LOK thin grips. Wish the SD9 had a replaceable grip.
Ammo wise...the C100 seems to prefer heavier ammo (124 gr at the least...135gr or 147gr seems to fire center hit more.

For just over $400, I put this with or above any Ruger, S&W or Beretta I have owned. Never owned a Glock..(do not like the feel of the grip)..I have nothing against the company or guns they make.

NOTE... The new warranty (grandfathered to current owners of Tri Star pistols) is now 1 year full parts and maint labor....AND 4 ADDITIONAL YEARS for parts.
