Ruger LCP Custom
Unless there is a SW trigger fix that I don't know about, I'm selling my Bodyguard and buying the LCP Custom! Apparently Ruger listens to it's customers! That gun is sweet!

I had a 1st gen cop and also a bodyguard for about 3 weeks. Both are gone and replaced with the cop custom. Gt one of the very first ones. It is a keeper and a very good pocket gun.
J frame in coat pocket, lcp in weak side front pants pocket.

I bought the Gen 2 Ruger LCP about a month ago after reading many positive reviews. The trigger and sights have been improved over the Gen 1. It's been to the range and few times and I have around 200 problem free rounds through it. It's not a target gun but that's not what is was made for. I carry a Shield 9 as my EDC but the LCP in a Remora pocket holster has replaced my Beretta 21A for my walks in my neighborhood with my dog.

I bought a Custom LCP for around the farm. I haven't shot it yet, but the trigger pull is far superior to the Bodyguard .380 I have. I have not shot it either. My wife may get it, as her sister just got a .380, and my neighbor has agreed to teach her to shoot. Though I have wanted her to learn to shoot and carry for many years she has resisted. Maybe now that her sister is, she will change her mind. If not the NIB Bodyguard .380 will go up for sale.

I've been pocket carrying an LCP Custom for a couple of weeks now and really like it. Flat, light and handy.

while being a revolver lover and my first semi for pocket carry is a BG380 I have no problem with it's pull,I have tried a Sig 238,a,Rem 380,Colt Mustang and the gritty triggered LCP with NO last shot hold open, my preferance was the Sig but my brother went to N.H. first and got one at the acadamy so I got the BG and am VERY happy with her

I too own the Gen 2 LCP and it's a great little shooter. Much, much better that the older version. It's very light and slim making it easy to pocket carry. All in all a really nice gun.

Please elucidate on the better-ness of the gen 2 over the gen 1 LCP?
I've got an original elsiepea with a few upgrades (Pachmyer sleeve, Innovatgive Arms sights) and approaching 2000 rounds. Pocket carry with a Desanti. The trigger is so broken-in it's like butter and an extension of my hand. I can put together 3 - 4 inch clusters at 21 feet. It's simple and effective. Heck I can shoot it better than my 3913 with twice the barrel length!
And what's with dissing someone who comes to the S&W forum with an LCP-works-better-for-them-than-a-S&W post?!?

Some folks are consumed (overly anal) with brands. I EDC S&W J frame and BUG an LCP Custom cuz it's what works for me.

If I'm going to keep a gun in my pocket, I want a long/hard pull trigger.

The Gen 2 has a slightly improved trigger and more pronounced sighting system than the Gen 1. The Custom has the same basic trigger system with a better trigger blade and even better sights.

mlk18 explained the improvements to the Gen 2 LCP. It sounds like yours is very similar with the mods you have made and shooting 2000 rounds can only make the trigger better. The Gen 2 just comes with the better trigger system and better sights from the factory. I also added a SS guide rod the Hogue Handall JR. grip and changed the recoil spring. The grip and the recoil spring made it softer shooting not quite as snappy. It's a great little shooter and pocket carries very nice with the same holster you are using.

I've been pocket carrying a first gen LCP for years. Great little pocket pistol! It has been 100% reliable with more than a few brands of HP's and hard ball. The long trigger pull has smoothed out nicely and it can be surprisingly accurate. If I take my time I can smack 10" plates at 20 yards with pretty decent regularity.
I'd like to try a LCP custom... on second thought, maybe I better not.

Well based on the posts I decided to try one. However it appears everyone else has the same idea as the cubboard is decidedly bare. Anyone recommend a source for NIB for less than 3 Bills? MSRP is appearently $289. Thanks

Bud's shows the standard new gen LCP in stock for $229. All the other models of LCP's are out of stock. From what I understand it has been a good seller for Ruger since its introduction.

+1 on the new LCP 'gen2' or whatever you want to call it - though Ruger never officially admitted they improved the trigger.
The trigger and sights are fine. It's not a range gun, but it is totally reliable and I like the trigger a lot better than the Bodyguard. It is also less about a third of what you'll pay for the Sig P238 which, to me anyway, is the only serious competition to the LCP.
Oh, and if you keep your eyes open; Cabela's puts them on sale for $199. I used a $20 coupon and picked mine up for $180! ...compared to the $650 I would have dropped on a Sig.

I have an original LCP and I also like the long pull for pocket carry. It's smooth enough to keep on target.
This is the first I've heard of a "Custom LCP".
I know of the different striker fired versions. Is the custom hammer fired?
If so, its just been smoothed out plus a wider trigger?

Shot the Ruger Custom LCP, I love it !! I traded the BG .380 in on a rifle, got a good deal. Now I have a new rifle I like, too.

I've carried the Kel-Tec P3at as my motorcycle pocket gun for a number of years with no problems. The trigger is a bit tough though, but I figured if I ever really needed it-I wouldn't notice the pull. Has the new LCP made much improvement over the original Kel-Tec design?

Yes. The way to tell the up graded version is the earlier LCP had a dash in the serial #. The new upgraded guns do not have this dash.

I've got the gen2 LCP and carry it daily. Great pocket gun.
As far as the Custom being "better"... that's a subjective view. The only thing those extra tall sights are good for on a mouse gun are snagging in the pocket as far as I'm concerned. And that skeletenized red trigger? What would I do with that.. show the guys at the club what a pretty trigger my LCP has?
Now I ask you... This fat half blind old man can do this with an LCP at 7yds. What more is required from a mouse gun?
