Default Fake Randall Knives Offered at Auction

Take a look at Amoskeag's silent auction items 3370 thru 3382.

To Amoskeag's credit, these are listed as "facsimile" Randall knives. We call then counterfeits. It's important to look at these and perhaps save some images. I'm afraid these will show up, at some time, being offered as legitimate Randall knives.

I would think that an auction house would NOT allow counterfeit items to be listed. Especially one's that infringe upon the trademark of a very reputable manufacturer.

What gives?

Gary Randall told me that he had issues with some guy who was faking Randalls in Japan. That fellow had registered the Randall name and trademark there, legal under their laws.

At least they are properly identified as not original Randall.

I've worked with Amoskeag to identify some of these. I think most were returned to Amoskeag as fakes and received a refund. They may be simply trying to recoup some of their loss. I'll call them tomorrow and get the rest of the story.

I was under the impression that CBP would divert and destroy counterfeit items when inspected at the docks. Just because they are legal in Japan, does not mean that they can be legally imported into the US (where they are violating a US Trademark law).

How can you tell they are fakes? I know nothing about Randall
knives.

there is also a fake Wells Fargo shotgun listed in cat. not ID'd
as such.

I don't know if any were imported here, but it cost Randall many Asian and other sales. Not everything is always about Americans.

Anyone who has handled a few Randall knives will note the difference.
Hate to see that happen, still there are American makers who do their best to copy Randall.
