Help needed - I bought a bag o' Colt
The local police supply place had a fresh bunch of police trade-ins, but nothing really noteworthy. The owner plopped a ziplock bag on the counter and said - you can have this for 100 bucks. We settled on 90. Here it is:
It came from a PD that was cleaning out its vault - a department gun with a note that said "broken mainspring" and "?". It had been in a drawer for 15 or 20 years.
Its a mid 80s Colt Agent - the second model with the matte finish.
Can any of you guys tell if its all there? I don't know a lot about the insides of Colts, other than I'm pretty sure the mainspring isn't supposed to be a two-piece affair.
Here are the bits from the bottom of the bag:
The other side, for what its worth:
I'd like to replace what's missing/broken and get it shooting again. I'm not having much luck finding a spring kit - none are listed for Wolff or Brownell's.
I figure it will be a fun project, for the price of a nice steak dinner with the wife. If all else fails I think I can get my money back by selling everything but the frame on eBay, but I'd really like to get it shooting.
Ideas?

I carry one of these every day as my primary EDC piece. backed up with a Chiefs as a KC quick reload...use 90% - 95% of loads fired thru her being 148gr lead wadcutters over 750fps charge of Unique with the balance being your carry loads & she will last forever. They are a delight to shoot. Contact Dick Williams gunshop in Michigan for parts... they have an exc website & toll free phone.. you speak with real gunsmiths when you call them too.

Not sure how much this'll help but here is a schematic I found on it.
https://www.gunpartscorp.com/Manufac...gent-35905.htm
It's at Numrich, and I'm guessing they may have some parts for it as well.

Your missing a spring and the plunger that holds the cylinder and crane in the frame. Also missing is the small spring that pushes the cylinder latch closed. That is all I can tell from the pics. Of course the grips and main spring.

Nice pick up!

And, the V-shaped mainspring, #29.
CDNN used to have stocks, but have not checked lately.
Great find!

There is, or was, a place called the Revolver Armorer in Suffolk VA. If they are still there, you ought be able to send them what you have and, for a reasonable fee, have it put back together and any parts replaced.
I think that if you contact Badger that you can get a nice sets of grips made up for a reasonable price.

I can't tell if the ejector and bolt springs are there, but you need a new cylinder latch spring and main spring for sure.

Excuse my bump
I hope it's OK to bump this one back to the top.
This is a great story and I really want to know how it ends. Any news?
