Default Corralled a little pony today

Why, oh why, do I keep doing these things to myself?
I know better. But I do it anyway.

So I'm sitting here this morning quietly surfing the internet. Just messin' around, not doing anything in particular. When I stumble across a local ad for a gun I've always wanted, but had pretty much given up on.
Colt prices these days have gone absolutely nuts. So when I saw the ad my eyes bugged out. This is too good to be true. A quick check of the various action sites turns up guns in similar condition at $1200+.
I keep telling myself "Don't do this. You don't need to be spending the money right now. Let it go! Move on!"
But alas, it was useless. E-mails sent, meeting set and before I knew it, the deal was done.
Its not perfect. Has some holster wear, its been used. I'd guess the finish is about 85%. It has Pacmayer grips on it. But its mine for $700!

1968 Colt Diamondback .38 Special

I took it to the range this afternoon and despite 20-25 mph crosswinds, the little pony performed well. But them goodyears have got to go.

You shoot at MSSA? I'm out there a lot, usually shooting an old Mauser.

Reminds me of 'Animal House'

"Now Laurence, if you touch one hair......"

PS Verily I say unto you, I think I would rather have that than a Python.

You got that right! Rubber has no place on a gun.*

Congratulations on your new gun.

*Note that I'm very opinionated on the subject. No apologies, either.

Sheepdawg: Yep, I shoot at MSSA. Wind was really cuttin' up out there today. We've probably crossed paths, just never been introduced.

Lee: Nope, ain't changed one bit and still got lucky. Who'd a thunk it?

I've been looking for some lumber, but used factory grips are runnin' about $200 per set. I believe I'll have to pass on those.
I've got a line on some nice Herrett's at a gun shop about 75 miles from here. Just might be a little road trip in my future.
