Default Franz Sodia Ferrilac double barrel?

Picked one up at the pawn Shop I work in but know little about them.
This one is a side by side 16 gauge dated from the late 1930's.
May snag it as its breathtaking to look at but having trouble setting a real value.
The few I have seen for sale range from $2K to 6K or so.
Anybody here know these guns?

I think it's "Ferlach" which is a city in southern Austria. I wouldn't have any idea as to its market value. You might check on GunTrader to see if any have been sold and at what price. I think the Sodia guns are considered to be of high quality.

Franz Sodia is an excellent maker, does the gun you're looking at have2.50" or 2.75" chambers (65mm or 70mm)? MOST of them came with a presentation case, is this case present? How do the internals look? Rusted? Aftermarket "improvements"? What's the inside of the barrels look like, scratched, sleeved, original? What are the markings, there will be many stamped markings on this shotgun?

Dad had one for a while back in the 1970's, bought it brand new, 16 gauge side-by-side, 2.75" chambers, 26" barrels, full & modified. Top quality on all counts.

When I was a kid I got a Ferlach on a trade. Was a 16g/8x57R.
Gun was a bring home from WW2. Was a beautiful gun, had a
trigger guard made from horn, a trap door in cheek piece for
ammo storage, 3 flip up sights, action was silver with game
scenes. Traded a Ruger Auto pistol for it, $37.50 new at time.
Took gun to smith to see about 8x57R changed for standard 8x57. Ended up trading it for 3 guns. Back in those days I had
no Class. Was one of worst deals I ever made. Hine sight is 20/20. Also it had Timez Ferlach inlaid in gold on barrel rib.
My spelling is probably wrong on the name.

Absolutely we need pictures, because Franz Sodia makes not just beautiful guns, they're as "field" as they are pretty. Ferlach is the town, not the maker, as DWalt has pointed out in a previous post. Franz Sodia is the maker. Lots of makers in Ferlach. The Sodia family is probably the finest.

They're a traditional maker, doubles, drillings, single-shots, don't know if they even make bolt-actions, but certainly nothing in semi-auto stamped sheet metal & plastic, save for during WWII, when the Germans controlled the output from Franz Sodia.

Hi Hunters!

I am from Austria and own 3 guns from Franz Sodia. Franz Sodia stopped with his gun smithing firm in the middle 1980´s, who made the most handmade hunting guns from Ferlach. Some People say that tey are the cheapest guns from Ferlach, but I love them all, very good precision and very pretty engraving, made like a shoe for my foot handmade, no shoot´s going wrong.

best hunting wishes from Austria
