Default Anyone know Sig arms shotguns?

A friend has a very nice Sig Arms Aurora TR20 O/U, 28" barrel, 3" chambers. It has had less than 20 rounds through it and was bought new in 2001. It is in as new condition no blemishes at all. He has offered it to me and neither of us have any idea on value, I have not been able to find where any have been sold in the last few years. He paid $1600 for it but I don't have a clue if it is worth $2000 or $1200. I told him I would offer a fair price but don't want to over pay. Anyone have any idea of the value of this gun?
thanks
PH

IIRC they were made by Rizzini before they were discontinued. If he paid $1600 in 2001 he got a good deal. Again IIRC CDNN blew them out well below the MSRP when they were dropped by Sig. He might have benefited from that. MSRP new was $2200 +/-.

For current value if you have a copy of the Blue Book of Guns they are listed in there. The last version I have 2011 says:

Aurora TR20U Field (Apollo) Add to Collection
- similar to Apollo/Aurora TR20 Field, except has straight English stock (Upland Model) and color case hardened receiver. Mfg. 2000-2005.

Grading 100% 98% 95% 90% 80% 70% 60%
$1,995 $1,750 $1,475 $1,265 $1,050 $925 $800
Last MSR was $2,250.

I would offer him a little less than he paid something in the range of $1200

All correct. IIRC, CDNN blew them out for even less than $1600...

I remember them at the sporting clays shoots, nice looking and handling for field use but they didn't hold up to the steady diet of 1300 fps sporting loads and fell from grace with a total lack of service! They all ended up in closets like your friends where they seldom seen and less frequently used. There is a reason they are less money than the Ruger, Beretta, or Browning. Even $1200 is a lot of money for an up and coming wall hanger!.
