Default Something cool for the 99 Savage fan...

A Collector's Guide to the Savage 99 Rifle and its Predecessors, the Model 1895 and 1899 - $59.99 : Schiffer Publishing

My David Royal has put together a wonderful book with all the information you ever wanted to know about 99 Savages. If you even have a passing interest in these intriguing rifles, there is a wealth of knowledge, as well a myriad of great photos.

I've no connection to this book other than I own a copy.

+1 on the book, I have two signed copies and it's the best thing to come along in years for the 99 collector. Doug Murrays' "The 99 A history of the Savage 99 rifle" has been around a long time but is another "must have" reference guide.

Hint: Use the new book to make corrections to some of the errors in Murray, and carry Murray with you. Royal's book is a little too awkward to carry to shows and the LGS. Of course, some of us, while we love the book, would like to keep it out of circulation when scouting.

LOL! I've about decided I own most of the 99s in Tennessee. You rarely see one for sale here.

They are not common here. More than one gunstore/pawn shop owner has told me they have never heard of them or seen one in their career. And few are left original, but when they are, I scarf them up!
