Default Sig Sauer P938 Trigger Issue

We went to the range this afternoon to break in my new Ruger LC9s. The good news is that it performed well. Although it's not fun to shoot (the grip is too small for my hand causing pain while shooting), it is accurate and reliable.

Now the bad news . . . my wife's Sig Sauer P938 failed after she fired three rounds from it today. It's about a year old and only has a couple hundred rounds through it. Today the trigger failed to reset. Sometimes racking the slide will reset the trigger. Sometimes it won't. It seems to me the trigger disconnect isn't always popping back up like it should when the slide goes forward. Also, and possibly/probably related, the thumb safety will not engage when the pistol is cocked now. The safety will engage only with the hammer down. I have no idea how to correct that, so I guess I'll call customer service Monday and send it on vacation for awhile.

Sounds like you would have been better off with two Rugers :-)

Sig 938 is a pretty nice little pistol. Once you get your issue fixed and back for sake I think you'll be pleased with the gun.

Apparently some P938s built before Aug., 2015 have problems with their mainspring housings. SIG is well aware of this problem. I'm not sure that's what caused your P938 to fail, but if you're interested, there is a lot more info here: P238, P938 Pistol - SIG Talk

some of the main spring housing (MSH) have failed with just a few hundred rounds through them and others have gone on with over a thousand rounds thru them .. call Sig and get a shipping label and the mother ship will fix it up to new condition ..

I guess I should have updated this with the resolution. I called Sig, and they sent a shipping label. Sent it in. Got it back in a week although I was told to expect three weeks turnaround. Sig said the sear pin was out of place and the grips were damaged. I didn't notice a problem with the grips, but that's okay. They replaced the sear pin, replaced the grips, upgraded the MSH and the magazine catch. Said they test fired it with both FMJ and HPs with no failures.

I took it to the range Friday. It functioned perfectly.

Sig gets an A+ for customer service as far as I'm concerned.
