So I stroll into Academy with thoughts of buying some ammo
and a new holster for one of my carry guns... you know a quick relatively inexpensive trip... and as I'm walking out something catches my attention out of the corner of my eye in the gun case... a folding rifle... I'm like naw, can't be, so I walk over and holy cow batman... yep... really couldn't believe it. I grabbed the clerk by the hair and said how bout write this up for me.... Gen 2 $429.99. Just arrived this morning.
gal said they don't last long... ya think?
I ran over to Cabelas and picked up a Glock 33er...
pinch me.

Wow, that looks like one of them "insult" weapons all those nerthern Liberals complain about. Folded up real tight like, it'd hide under my front seat. I've never seen one in person, but I like how decisive the OP here is.

Truth is I've been wanting one for a while but they are very difficult to find and pretty expensive on gun broker....
didn't take a lot of thought.

Excellent find!!! Found mine a few weeks ago. They are scarce as hen's teeth around here. Sadly, I paid more than you.
Sub2K 1.jpg
Should give a brief range report, I guess. Dead on at 25 yards right out of the box. 200 rounds through it with no failures. Used the provided (Mecgar) 10 round magazine, factory Glock 33s and aftermarket Korean made 33 round magazines. All functioned flawlessly. I had a little concern about the Korean magazines, I had read some bad reviews. But in my case, there were no issues. May look at picking up a few more.

I'm telling ya that's the only way you'll find one of these anymore. I stumbled onto one almost 2 months ago at my LGS. One of the guys said, "yep I just put it out at 10:30am" (it was. 12:30pm). He said he couldn't believe it lasted that long. My guy even split the difference in tax. Got it for $405 OTD.

I approve of owning either the Hi Point or the Kel Tec. Both have been very good to me!

I went and bought 9 of the Glock PMags (at my local Rural King) & haven't had an issue yet.
Well except, I've put over 700 rds through mine in less than 2 months already.
$ ouch

Hopefully we can get a range report on the new generation. It looks like they added rails and possibly the front sight is upgraded (?).
The prior generation was notorious for a front sight that could not be adjusted to center but customer service from Kel-tec was good and they would fix it. The 9mm version with Glock magazines is reliable and with the front sight fixed it consistently hits an 8" x 8" steel plate at 100 yards from a rest.

I actually saw 2 on a table at the last gun show. $599...
I owned a first gen in 40S&W. Had it been 9mm I'd still have it.

It appears that the CMR-30 (30-shot .22 WMR carbine) is now being made in quantity.
A few months ago the only place I had seen any was on Gunbroker, at about $1000. This past weekend I saw one at a gun show marked at $750, so I checked GB again and they are readily available at $650 plus shipping. I did find one at $620 and only $25 shipping so it's on its way.

Someone in Academy woke up. I bought an S&W M&P R8 there last week. I was used to only seeing pink Rugers and Taurus Judges.

There is nothing on the box exterior identifying it as a gen 2. Pic of mine is here. But, IIRC the gen 1 came in a white box and my gen 2 was in a brown box as shown.

I was at a gun show a few months ago in New Hampshire and saw one on a counter for $399. Glock mags and everything. I am a lefty and had some problems with burnt powder blowing back in my face so I passed. Walked around the entire show ~40 minutes and it was still there...
Since I am a MA resident, the seller wouldn't give me the standard capacity magazine. Credited me for the mag and walked out with it for $359...
They made a lot of improvements over the first version of the rifle. The front site is nice now.

I have another question. I see where the each caliber comes in 2 Glock versions......either a Glock 17/19 or Glock 22/23. Which one do you guys got?

The 17/19 is the 9MM version. The 22/23 is the .40 version. I have the 9MM.

Great guns. The only thing I don't like about them is that you can't fold them with an optic mounted on it.

I looked for along time and finally found a 9MM Gen 1. I looked at Gen 2 at Shot Show and many of the accessories for the Gen 1 are now standard on Gen 1, Mine uses S&W 59 magazines could not find one that used Glock magazines.

I wasn't real clear in this post. Actually the variations are Glock 17 OR Glock 19 for 9mm and Glock 22 OR Glock 23 for 40 caliber. Apparently the grip frames are longer on the 17 and 22 and shorter on the 19 and 23.

Since I live in a free state, this is not an issue for me. I use extended magazines exclusively and only have one flush fit magazine, the one supplied by the factory. The Glock 17 vs. 19 choice is a non issue because all Glock 9MM mags are interchangeable. Just be sure it is not too short to fit in the mag well. I don't want multiple flush fitting magazines.

So a 19 mag won't fit in the 17 model and if you solely use extended mags, the gun's grip frame length would be a non-issue. I was wondering which grip frame you preferred, the long or short if using the flush mag? Of course, it looks like since these are in high demand now, you probably can't go into your local gun shop and choose which one feels best. Instead, you have to take what they have if you want one bad enough.

That is the real answer. I was looking for a Glock 9MM and took what I could get. They are harder to find than the .40s. 17/19 made no difference to me. FWIW I think mine is the 17, but I am not sure because it didn't matter. I jumped on it when I found it. I am very pleased with it. BTW, I had the gen1 and sold it when I got my gen 2. It was also the Glock 9MM, which is why I already had a supply of mags.

While calling around yesterday looking for one of these, a girl at a LGS told me that they had only had 1 come in the store all year. A few minutes after I hung up the phone with her, she called back (thank goodness for caller ID) and said that the owner had just come in and told her that they were supposed to get one in either today or Monday. They did not know the version or what the price was going to be.
When the Gen 1 came out years ago, I had looked at one and thought it was too cheaply made, and did not give them another thought. This thread made me realize that the Gen. 2 was available.
The LGS girl called back this morning and said that they got an OD Green Glock 19 version in and were pricing it firmly at $439. I drove over to check it out. The Gen. 2 is a much more quality rifle. The new polymer stock is not “blocky” anymore. It now has a few picatinny rails and some M-LOK slots to attach accessories and is adjustable. The front sight is 100% better. They also said the ejection port was larger on the Gen. 2 version. This gun comes with a 15 round PMAG, not a Glock factory magazine, but it does drop free when empty. I guess this is a money saver.
I now have a new “truck gun” and think the price was pretty good. With an empty mag, it only weighs 4.25 pounds and folds to a “next to nothing” 16.5 x 7 inches! I plan on buying a couple 33 round Glock mags and putting it in an old laptap case for carrying. Here are some pictures:

Like I said in another post "timing is everything" well done and congrats!

I went into my LGS today at lunch, and they still have 4 of
40SW (Glock Mag) Kel Tecs, just sitting there collecting dust.
They've had them for almost a 4 weeks now - with no takers.
I may have to get one of these too. I have a G22, so to me it would make perfect sense to pick one up.
I did tell one of the sales guys - that if these were 9mm, they wouldnt have lasted 4 hours, let alone 4 weeks.
Are times reallly coming down that hard on 40SW firearms and their ammo?

I got my 33-round and 17-round factory Glock magazines in the mail today. If you other guys who got one of these rifles don't particularly care for the way you have to angle your head to get a proper sight picture, or the way your cheek feels against the bolt tube, check out this bolt tube cover.
It feels much better against your cheek than the bare metal, but more importantly to me, this slight addition to the diameter of the bolt tube makes the position of your head to get a good sight picture much more comfortable. The gun can still be folded and locked into position.

Ya'll know that ya'll are a bad influence......I got me a Glock 17 version yesterday at my local Academy. It only comes with one mag, so, to help things out in that regards, I bought a new Glock 17 with its three mags, and a 33 rd. mag just to go with it, today. I hope this Gen 4 is better than the last one I had. Now, I have to find a nice cartoon character back pack to carry it all around in. Do they still make "Yosemite Sam" stuff, as I don't really want "Sponge Bob Square Pants", as he really doesn't fit my image......

Tacticool Products - SUB-2000 Bolt Tube Cover
Where do they come up with company names?
It is made to be used when the Gen. 2 rifle is set up using the longest length of pull position on the adjustable stock. It can be used in the other 2 positions (after trimming), but not well IMO. The longest length of pull position is most comfortable for me anyway.
Also, to me, this product is kinda like Pachmayr grips. Better pay attention to what is going on underneath it. If this was a "collector" firearm, I would not use it. But, for a truck gun, I like it a lot.

According to my wife I'm more of a Patrick, my kids say I'm more Squidward.
Gotta stop stopping in on this thread or I'm going to end up with one of these!
After a while some of you new owners post how the gen. 2 has been holding up and functioning. My gen. 1 was 100% reliable, accurate and fun to shoot. The front sight was **** and was looking into replacing it. Only other problem I really had was the charging handle catching beard hair as it cycled, OUCH!

I have a Georgia Arms 500 round Canned Heat ammo can of 9MM LUGER 124GR FULL METAL JACKET NATO. I know NATO rounds are kinda hot. Not sure how they compare to +P. I sent a message to Kel Tec and asked:
"Is it safe to shoot 9MM LUGER 124GR FULL METAL JACKET NATO rounds in the Gen. 2 Sub-2000? Thanks in advance for your response."
Their answer was:
"Yes, they should be fine as long as they're a good quality brass cased ammo."
I have not done it yet though.
