Default Do you still have a certain "caliber" that you would like to bring to the collection?

Personally, I feel I have all the calibers covered that I could really ever need. I'm always open to purchasing a new gun, but one of the same calibers I already stock up on and use at the range etc.
I shoot 22lr, 223/556, 38sp. 357, 9mm and 45acp. but I can't think of anything I'm missing that I'd ever want. I know I won't ever go for a 380 or a 40 cal. I don't see the point when there's 38sp, 9mm and 45Acp. I feel like I will always love the calibers I chose and will never be curious about owning anything else.
Although there's one exception and that would be a 12 ga. I have not shot one ever. I don't hunt so that's probably the reason for that but I can see myself one day purchasing a shotgun just for the thrill of blowing the hell out of old refrigerators.
What are you all considering as your down the road purchase of something you never owned before or want to own again?

A couple:
  1. .38 Super - I've always wanted a .38 Super M1911, but have never gotten around to getting one. I'm leaning toward a nickeled Rock Island, but put it off to get a 3.5" Citadel M1911 to replace the Norinco 5" M1911 carry gun that I had to sell to pay the rent three years ago.
  2. 6.5 Grendel - I love 6.5mm rifles (I have a Swedish Model 96 Mauser). I'd like to get a 6.5mm Grendel upper for my AR, but I have no place worthwhile to shoot a good rifle, so I'm in no big hurry.

I'm just the opposite. I started off with .22, .38/357 and .45 ACP. Added .25, .32. 9mm, 44 mag, .45LC, a couple obsolete stuff, bunch of rifle calibers, etc. I wish I had just stuck with the original three. I also wish I had stuck with two basic platforms; revolver and 1911.

Sure! 338, 50BMG, 6.5 Grendel, 408 Cheyenne tactical (cheytec), 9x23, 5.45x18, and many more.

Realistically I can afford the 6.5 Grendel

I have had many many chances to buy a FN 5.7 (pistol) but just never did. As a reloader I would "have" to reload it and it is more trouble than it's worth. Pretty pricey even used. Actually the factory ammo has not changed price much over the years, still around $20'ish for 50 rounds.Fun to shoot however.

Pistol I'd like a 10mm 610 (yeah, dream in) or a Dan Wesson Razorback.

Rifles: 25-06, 338-06, 6.5 Swede.
Shotgun a 28 O/U, maybe start skeet shooting again.

Dunno what I'd do with any of them, except maybe shoot service rifle with a Swede Mauser.

Ok with a 25-06 I might have to book am antelope hunt.

Just bought a Contender .357 max. The cartridge has always fascinated me. It's a long trip to the nearest IHMSA match, but I love ringing steel at long range. There's NRA silhouette locally, but everyone gets their nose out of joint if you shoot an actual hunting gun (in NRA Hunters Pistol Silhouette.).

I'm not really interested in fiddling with new calibers. My 7.62x54R dies have been sitting since I bought them new 3 years ago.. I love working up accurate loads, but just no time.

Since the family ranch got sold to help pay for moms Alzheimer's care, I don't go woods bumming or hunting anymore, so no need for big bore magnum sixguns to handle feral hogs.

You should really have a 12 GA pump shotgun.

The others you are missing, I could not live without, 30/30 lever action, and 45 LC. Or substitute .44 mag.

The one I want to add .454 casul, there are bigger maybe better big bore revolver rounds out there, but the .454 is a classic, and is the reason I chose .45 LC over .44mag.

I think a revolver and a lever action in 22 WMR.

I wish there was a cz82/83 sized pistol in 7.62x25 tokarev.

Yes I do. I want a 357Sig caliber barrel for my Kel-Tec P-40 pistol.
yes, they were made for it.
I still have two P-40's, and would like the replacement .357 Sig for it.
Many have asked me why I keep a P-40?
The answer is that I like this weapon as one of the fiercest out there.
Yes, it has recoil. About the same recoil as a small frame Smith shooting a 357 Mag cartridge.

I've never owned a .44 Special. I would like to.

Also I haven't been able to hunt for years, but just for S&G I'd love to own a rifle in 7X57 or .257 Roberts. Just because.

For that matter I'd settle for having my fine Remington 700 in .243 or my Marlin 336 in .30-30, both gone for over forty years, back.

I'm toying with the idea of trying a .357 Sig barrel in my M&P40FS.

My friend loves the Ruger SP101 in .327 Federal Magnum. He has almost convinced me to buy one for myself.

There is the CZ 52 but is a tad longer than a CZ 82/83 but you need the length for the velocity! Plus two hands to pull the trigger!

I really don't see me jumping into another handgun caliber...currently have 22 LR, 7.62 Tok, 38 sp, 38 Super, 357 mag, 357 Sig, 9 mm Luger, 9x18 makarov, 10 mm, 40 S&W, 45 ACP, 45 Colt, 41 mag, 44 mag in handguns. I've thought about a bigger bore revolver, but honestly I don't need one, and my hands/wrists are probably better off for my restraint. Maybe someday I'll try a 380 acp pistol, but its really not calling me.

The only handgun calibers I've tried and abandoned are 327 Fed, and 454 Casull.

I'd love to have Parkers in 28 ga and 410.

I'd also like I frames in 32 and
38 S&W.

My case is "ammo in search of a gun".

6 or 7 years ago, I was at a Cabela's and musta spaced out a bit, because I picked up and bought a box of WWB 38 Super, instead of 38 Special. Didn't realize it until a few months later when I finally looked closely. It was a dumb move, and I felt pretty dumb once I realized what I had done. Oh well....

Been looking for a 38 Super ever since. Have seen lots of possibilities, but for whatever reason haven't "bit the bullet", so to speak. It'll happen, sooner or later.

Considering my 2 hands and a foot collection I don't yet own a 9x19. I will say, most of my guns I inherited from my father and he had a penchant of accumulating different calibers for the sake of having them and he leaned towards less common stuff which is why there's a .380ACP and 9x18 Makarov and even a Kel-Tec 32ACP in the collection but no 9x19 lol I need to add one and every time I find the right one, a clean good condition M39 (don't need LNIB because I will shoot it) is right after I spent my mad money on something else lol Long term I plan on adding a Series 70 Colt 1911 in .38 Super and an M24 in .44 Spl. Those are the 3 for me down to the specific make and model. I guess I can add in an M329 as well since those can still be found new, but even that will only happen when I get serious about handloading because I will not be shooting full power .44Mag out of that lol

Don't mind at all...Nothing specific wrong with either caliber, just that neither really grabbed me. I found the 327 Fed awfully snappy in the J-frame that I owned - certainly more so than 38 Sp+P IMO. The only gun I ever owned in 454 Casull was a Taurus Raging Bull, and I just didn't love the gun so I sold it and abandoned the caliber. To my knowledge S&W never sold a gun chambered in 454 Casull, so since my revolver interest has primarily been S&W I just lost interest in that caliber. I do have a Freedom Arms model 97 in 45 Colt, and would certainly take a model 83 in 454 if one fell in my lap!! But don't love (or need) it enough for a $2K+ investment!

Default I have GOT to have.....

I've got to get a .22 into the mix sometimes.

Ruger 10/22

Of course an AR-15 would be nice but I'd really like have a .243

Lever action anything.

A big bore gun. Maybe a .44 and shoot a lot of specials but crank 'er up now and then.

My son and I built 6.5 Grendels last fall, super nice.

I have 22's, 357, 44 mag and a few 1911's.

I twice had 3 screw Ruger 41 mags in 4 3/4". I was not thinking when I traded off the 1st one, the original owner of the 2nd begged for it back and I let it go.

That's what I want 41 Mag old Ruger , it is about the sweetest packing powerful SA I've carried.

I always forget about the .454 Casull!

I don't feel the need to add anything else, but if I did, it would be something in .454, probably a Rossi Model 92 or a Ruger SRH.

As a city dweller in this leftist state, I have no need for a hunting rifle, but keep trying to convince myself that I need a lever action rifle... I really want to get a Marlin 336 in 30/30. I just think it is a beautiful rifle... Eventually I'll get one, although I should get an AR-15 platform first....

For handguns, I only have 9 mm and .40. I like both, but am clearly lacking the simplicity of a revolver. That will be next on my list, probably a .357 so I can shoot a variety (.357 and .38 spl) through it. (But am also contemplating a .44 mag).

Also feel I should have a 22 handgun at some point, as they are just so much fun to shoot, and affordable.

Edit- sorry didn't mean to reply to the above, was trying to reply to the general post.

I wish there was a cz82/83 sized pistol in 7.62x25 tokarev.

For the 454 Casull folks the SW 460 will shoot it.

The first gun I ever wanted was a 1911, and I still don't have one, or anything in .45, so there's one. But even more, I'd like to come across a CZ 82, so 9x18 is another caliber to add.

I had a Marlin 336 at one point. Only bought it cause the lack of left handed bolt action rifles in 308/30-06. Didn't like it too much. The 336 itself was fine but I hated the loading, always got my finger stuck or the cartridge. And for something that has the dimensions of 7.62x51 I'd want the performance of 7.62x51. I realize why it's not but still. Anyway, when I found a left handed 30-06 I sold the Marlin

I'd like a .22 mag, revolver and rifle, A .38 Super Colt, a .410 shotgun, a .250 Savage 99. and dreaming of a medium bore (.450-.500) Black Powder Express.

I would really like to get a 1911 in 38 Super and/or 10mm.
The 6.5 Creedmore is a bit intriguing to me. Not sure what rifle I'd get..probably a Sako or FN.

I once had a 7/.30 Waters T/C Contender that I let slip away. Absolutely loved that gun. For those unfamiliar with the cartridge, it's a 30/30 case necked down to 7mm with the shoulder blown out and fireformed. Once a wildcat, now commercially available. That scope mounted handgun was an awesome hunting combination.

I thought of one more, a Henry Golden Boy in .17HMR. I already have a late '60s Marlin 39A that I absolutely love plinking with, so I have .22 covered and the .17HMR round is a neat little round to play with. Might need to combo that with a Ruger New Model Single Six in .17HMR lol Damn, I keep thinking of more and more that I can add to this list.

PS It's interesting to see how often a 1911 in .38Super is mentioned in this thread

.454 Casull® in a Freedom Arms Model 97 Premier Grade 10" (it's the Wyoming native in me).

If I were ever going to buy a long gun it I would have Bill at the LGS across the street build a heavy barrel, like the one he made for himself, in .204 Ruger. There's just something crazy appealing about a 32-grain projectile traveling at 4,000 fps.

Deep down inside I've always wanted an original Winchester mdl. 70 in .458 magnum with a 22" bbl.......Also have always wanted an original Browning Superposed in 20 ga..
........So as an alternate I fling big 405 gr. bullets in my 45/70 and shoot birds with a "lessor" 20 ga. under & over.
