Default Bulldog 2.5" Owners

I am looking for a OWB leather holster for my bulldog for desert use. I have a nylon holster for it but I want a leather retention holster I can use either crossdraw or strong side when I am out in the desert.

Kind of like this:

I am not looking to buy new so I am perusing the used holsters.

I hear an sp101 or K-frame holster will fit. But never tried it. I also heard a dick special holster would fit but the one for my cobra did not so I wanted to know what you guys use... and what may fit.

This is the 2.5" version.

and obligatory summer/winter concealed carry photo of the bulldog with my 442 and the galco stow and go's I carry them in. I have put the semis in the safe unless I am gaming, I am 100% revolver. Along with a 357 LCR and my 4" model 19... that is my carry rotation. I LOVE revolvers.

Thanks again!

Wish I could help on the holster thing.....but I love revolvers too. I suspect a holster tooled for the 2.5" model 19 would be perfect.

I believe you would get more replies in the Gunleather and Carry gear section.

Mine fit my DS holster pretty good but it doesn't have any retention device. The problem may show up later if used that way possibly making it too loose for the DS.
I just broke down and had Lobo make one for it.
I would think a 2.5" K frame would work, too.
It would be best to try it first if possible.
Ask a friend with a K frame if you can try the fit with his holster. The barrel length wouldn't matter for a fit test, just when you buy one.

I just checked and a Bianchi 7-7L fit it pretty good. It has thumb strap retention plus 3 belt slots for strong side and cross draw use.
Mine is not lined and I think a lined one would fit even better.
BTW that 7-7L is for a medium frame (K).

FWIW, my original version Bulldog fits perfectly in an SP101 IWB holster I picked up - and I do mean perfectly - like it was made for it.
So unless there's something funky about the strap, any SP101 retention holster should work great for you.

Ended up going with a vintage basketweave don hume 702 for a 2.5" K frame.

Works great crossdraw and strong side

Thanks for the tips!

Love those old cross draw holsters. Looks great with the wood grips!

K frame holsters seem to loose for my CA Bulldog. Colt DS holsters and SP-101 holsters work.

I carry mine in Galco Combat Master J-frame holsters...fit fine but no retention strap.

Ditto on the SP-101 holsters. Fits my classic 3" Bulldog like it was made for it...
