Default Colt Commander lw, don't know why but......

.............always had a hankering for one in a small bore. Ran on to this and thought I had better try it.

Absolutely! An original Commander in any of the three calibers is always worthwhile. My first was a .38 Super, purchased 47 years ago. Still have it and wouldn't want to be without it!

Congrats on finding that one!

I think that qualifies as a "medium" bore. I love my mid 70s "big" bore. lee

Colt Commander was originally built for 9mm on an lightweight frame; you've stayed true to the original.

Looks like a good'un Tony. You're gonna like it. I don't know why either, but any time I "run into" any Commander at a reasonable price,it comes home with me. I've actually lost count of just how many I have. Many of them I have never shot. Just keep addin' 'em to the pile.

Every time I think "I don't want any more guns.", one of y'all comes along and plants a seed.

Congratulations.

I've never been a fan of the 9mm in any 1911. Just don't seem right.
However, if I had run across that one before you, it would have come home with me.

I have an older 1968 LW Commander I've had for years in .45ACP. I used to ccw it regularly in the early 2000s. It doesn't get shot much anymore but it is still a favorite.

I had a Colt Comander in the late 1950s. It was in 45 ACP. Shot it loose with less than 1500 rounds of GI ball. Installed Micro sights and couldn't keep the rear sight in its dovetail.

Well, I guess this is an opportunity for me to post this 1963 Colt Commander in .38 super. Back then the commander was lightweight, but was just called Commander. Well, you guys probably know all of that story anyway. Heres mine:

By the way, I'm sure that you will like yours as much as I like mine. Hang onto it. The old ones are great!!

Best Regards, Les

Something about the Commander's dimensions just looks "right" to me. Even more so than standard Gov't model.
