Default Brazilian .22 revolver hang-up

I bought a .22 revolver made in Brazil (forget the model) years ago from Century Arms. 9 shot, new in box but with no manual. The cylinder spins freely, and when I fire it, the cylinder will lock up as if the cartridges are not seating properly...any ideas, other than to use it as a door stop?

PLEASE NO, do not use it as a door stop! It's a firearm, might come in handy some day, and deserves to work properly. I would take it to a gunsmith for a diagnosis.

P.S. OP: hard to make suggestions not knowing something more precise about the gun...

You will need to provide a better description or post some pictures in order to get any kind of decent answer.

I don't understand what you mean by the cylinder spins freely, but locks up when being fired. The cylinder is supposed to lock up when being fired - this would be quite the problem if the cylinder did not lock up when being fired. Do you mean the cylinder sticks once it is fired? Or do you mean the brass drags on the recoil shield as the trigger is being pulled and makes the trigger pull noticeably harder?

Can fire off a shot or two, then when I pull the back the hammer the cylinder will not rotate to the next round.

It won't rotate to the next unfired round.

Default My bad...gun is a Terva from Argentina...

Pulled it out of my safe this morning. It is from Argentina, and Century Arms import. 10 -shot. One of the problems I noticed is that when the hammer is down the cylinder moves freely in either direction with the touch of a finger...my S&Ws don't do that. Dry firing, the cylinder rotates when unloaded.

So is it Brazilian or Argentinian?

The only thing I can find for Argentina is Rexiode Armas Rexio RJ-22 but that's a 9 shot 22lr

Default Too it to the gunsmith today...

The nice lady, Candy, who sold me my Ruger Security Six, took the cylinder in her hand and spun it like a top..."No, that's not right." Apparently there is a catch that controls the clocking of the cylinder (I am not a revolver expert) and it was defective. Actually, pretty much non-existent. Will be getting back with an estimate...but thinks that since it's a knock-off of a S&W, might be salvageable....think in the future, will stick with classic S&W revolvers. Them I know...sort of.
