What a neato thread! Love the firearms of this particular era and love to see examples.

Here's a 1923 example of a Winchester Model 1907 .351 with a factory Winchester 10-round magazine.

With a 5-round magazine and a buck, taken in 2001.

Another Colt Model 1908 from 1922.

Don't know when this Remington Model 51 was produced.

Great guns!! Created in the Roaring Twenties and still going strong!!! Glad you showed up for the party. These would have been cutting edge technology back then, and they are still just as useful today!

That is fantastic. I love the mother of pearl service style stocks. That is a beautiful .44, and the holster is great also. Does it have a makers mark on it? It sure goes well with that particular gun!!

Here's a commercial 1917 well preserved, shipped 1921. I'll have to find a space on top of the frig for this one Muley.

That holster? A.W. Brill... El Paso Saddlery makes copies of his designs. Good stuff. Brill was Nellie Connelly's dad. She married Gov. John Connelly, who was wounded when JFK was shot.

Charlie:

That is certainly "Well Preserved", heck, it looks like it was made yesterday. The closest that I have to that is my 44 special 2nd Model Hand Ejector, and although it was made close to yours, it is showing its age. I am still going to get it out for a photo soon, as I want to post it on this thread.

Beautiful gun, and thanks for posting!!! That one was certainly around in the "Roaring Twenties"!!!

Best Regards, Les

I just saw the thread wher you acquired this fine revolver... It once belonged to Hank Williams Jr., if I remember correctly!! That is really interesting.

Thanks again for sharing with us.

Thanks for the early Regulation Police!! That is a beauty, and nickle too! You are right, I hope I hold up that well when I'm 90!!! I'm sure that someone was happy to have the reassurance that that little beauty provided during the "Roaring Twenties"!!!

Default Photobucket has freed the hostages!! (Apparently)

I can't believe that photobucket has apparently freed our hostages. On these old threads (like this one of mine, and Linda's thread on vintage steel and leather, all of those hostage photos are now able to be seen again!! (As long as the owners didn't go in and erase them).

I think this is a great thing, as there were many wonderful photos and a lot of history on some of these threads, and we can once again access them.

Best Regards, Les

I think we should celebrate!

A pair from the mid-1920s, K-Frame Hand Ejectors, one .32-20 and one .38 Special. Can't believe I didn't post them earlier.

How about some Colt-ness? A late Army Special from about 1925 and far as I can tell. Being chambered for the .41 Long Colt makes it extra-neato. It's a shur-'nuff shooter too.

Yes!! Great post!! Thanks, I'm looking for something to celebrate with as well!!! And I might add that I had switched over to imgur, but still have all of my previous photos on photobucket.

Anyway, how about a shot of my Army Special. I can't remember if I posted it earlier, but here it is anyway...from the 1920s...

1922 Waffenfabrik Bern Parabellum 06/24 in 7.65 Parabellum / Luger caliber. I believe the Swiss were the first to introduce it as their ordnance pistol.

It’s also one of my most accurate semi auto. I shoot abt 500 rounds per year with it.

These two Colts were both made in 1927; a 4" Army Special and a 6" Officers Model. Both are in .38 Special. The smoothness of the actions on these guns has to be felt to be believed.

It was late. I didn't notice that the Colt .25 was already featured in one of my earlier posts.

Oh well, this one isn't. A 1921 vintage Remington Model 14R chambered for .30 Remington. Only thing is, the trim little carbine remained in inventory, perhaps both at Remington and at the retailer's. The original owner purchased it from Leonard Bros. on a close-out in 1936.

Thanks for the great post... I'm glad to see my old thread coming to life again, along with Linda's thread, "vintage Steel and Leather", I think it's called. There are many great images from the past, along with new ones being poster today.

Bryan:

Seeing your 14R reminds me of my 141. The 141 was the successor to the 14. Mine was made in October 1940, so doesn't really fit in here, but it looks a lot like its predecessor, so here it is. Someone before me put on the modern Tasco scope, and while I am searching for some vintage glass, I'm leaving it on, as it works quite well even if it doesn't look right!!

Mine is in the 35 Remington caliber, and it's a really nice piece of Americana!!

It still has the cartridge head on the receiver to tell the caliber, just as yours does..

Best Regards, Les
