Default Smython help

Hello everybody

Looking for any information on A smython stamped AG10 on the crane trying to find out who did the work. It is nickel plated with a 6 1/2 inch barrel model 19–3 . Just a shot in the dark here but thought somebody might have some knowledge on his pistol any information would be greatly appreciated.

Regards John

It is very likely that "AG10" is the assembly number. Assembly numbers are stamped on the yoke, back of side plate and left side of grip frame so that the frame gets back together with its fitted side plate and yoke after each time they are separated during manufacture.

I prefer Smolt since I did not hear Smython back when they were being assembled.

If it has either post pictures of the crane ball bearing lock or front lock plunger added into the Python barrel. Also post pictures of the joint between the front of the frame and barrel rib. Perhaps a member might be able to say the work is similar to a known gunsmith's work.

Try to see if there is a name stamped under the grips or some initials. Andy Horvath converted a K-22 to 32 long for me and stamped his symbol on the frame under the grips. If I remember it was a medal stamp with "AH". My next one is with him now, a .32 PPC gun. Told him I wanted Horvath custom stamped on the bbl., Larry
