One of my favorites is the Marlin 1894M lever actions if you can find one. Mine functions well and is an accurate shooter.

Anschutz, if you can find one.

I have a Model 9422M. It's an excellent rifle. It will kill coyote-sized game out to a 125 yards or so. But it ain't as accurate as an Anschutz.

Good luck finding ammo, especially at any reasonable price. I just ordered a Green Mountain .17 HMR barrel to replace the .22 mag barrel on my Ruger 77/22 magnum because of ammo price and availability. Maybe different in your area, but .22 mag ammo is $30 a box and more here, if you can find any for sale. I can load and shoot .223 a lot cheaper than that.

If you want premium grade accuracy without spending what an Anschutz costs, take a serious look at the CZ 452/455 line of rifles.

I am also quite impressed with my Marlin 25MN magazine fed bolt gun with a Sightron scope (3x9) on it.....Exceptional accuracy...

The trick with any of these fine rifles is finding ammo for them! Which is why I am shooting my CZ 452 in .17 HMR...at least I can find that stuff all every where....

Ditto...... got my CZ452FS/mannlicher stock in 2011... added a Leupold 1-4x20 scope.... it's become my favorite "Walk in Penn's woods" rifle.......

Off the bench I've gotten groups in the .8 range at 100.....generally 1-1.25 inch groups....... which is under the crosshairs of the scope at 100yds.

I've got a CZ453 Varmint (single set trigger) in .17hmr I need to get set up with a 4-16 scope..........

CZs are great micro-mausers for the money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a MARLIN 883T, tube fed (12 rounds), and very reliable and accurate. Highly recommend it, reasonably priced as well.
I also had the magazine fed Marlin, but had feed problems.

Heard CZ 's are great but for the money the Ruger American is accurate if you don't mind synthetic stocks. Satin bluing too which looks nice. Usually around $300 or a bit less these days.

Just an FYI:

Ruger Americans MSRPs $350 to 459 w/ wood stock

CZ 452/455s MSRPs range from about $312 for the Scout to $514 for the FS/mannlicher stock

Ruger 77/22 MSRP $979 .....saw a new 77/22 for sale Full Stock for $725 about a year ago.

If you are looking for accuracy, it's hard to beat the CZ 452/453/455 series rifles.

They are very accurate and decently priced considering the quality and performance you get.

----

I am not a fan of the Ruger American given the shortcuts taken to get that price point. I'm also not a 77/22 fan given the spotty accuracy and the high cost compared to a CZ that is just as nicely finished and will generally shoot much better.

-----

If you are looking for a rifle that is fun to shoot and effective out to 125-150 yards or coyotes and jack rabbits, look for a Winchester 9422M. The 9422 series rifles are more accurate than you'd think, and using a (properly mounted) scope or a tang sight will let you take advantage of their potential accuracy.

The 9422M usually sells for a bit less than the .22LR 9422 due to higher .22 WMR ammo costs, but they are very well made and a nice 9422M will continue to appreciate given their collectible status and the length of time that's passed since the last ones were made.

The 9422 and 9422M were largely an effort by Winchester to regain its reputation after the self inflicted wound caused by all the changes to the Pre-64 Winchesters, and the 9422 and 9422M were no holds barred efforts to produce very high quality production rifles - and Winchester was very successful in achieving that goal.

I've got a Mossberg 640K Chuckster. Same as the 340K 22LR. Nice little rifle. Under $200 used.

It's a little off topic, but there's nothing the .22 WMR will do that the .22 Hornet won't do better.

.22 Hornet is more accurate, will add about 75 more yards effective range compared to a .22 WMR, and .22 Hornet ammo doesn't cost much if any more than .22 WMR.

It's also reloadable and is generally much more available when shortages arise, either in loaded form or as reloading components. Most .22 Hornets will handle anything from 30 grains to 45 grains quite well. I get great accuracy from Barnes 30 gr Varmint Grenades as well as Hornady 35 gr V-Max and 40 gr V-max bullets and they work great on varmints, small game and coyotes.

The more traditional 45 gr RNSP bullets also can be used on small deer in states that allow the .22 Hornet to be used - just be very precise with the bullet placement and respect the effective range of the round.

I use the factory 35 gr V-max as a bench mark load for accuracy testing in .22 Hornets, and the 40 gr V-max is sub MOA in all my .22 Hornets, with all three of my rifles producing 1/2 MOA to 3/4 MOA five shot groups at 100 yards.

I couldn't agree more with BB57. When Ruger introduced the M 77/22M I bought one and started bench testing. Mediocre accuracy no matter the ammo brand. I rebarreled it with a Shilen barrel. It halved the groups but was an expensive modification. Then the M77/22Hornet was available. Went to that and got handloaded groups equal to the 22 Mag. I then wildcatted the Hornet to Ackley Improved, re-crowned the muzzle and did a AcuraGlas bedding job on the stock. Oh, and added an aftermarket target trigger. What a tackdriver. On prairie dogs with no wind It is good out to 250 yds. with an occasional exceptional shot to 300 yds. It is my favorite walk-around prairie dog and picket pin ground squirrel rifle.

I too have the Winchester M 94/22M and it is a real pleasure to carry and shoot. But, at best it is a 1.5 moa rifle. I still like the idea of a really accurate 22 Mag. light rifle, but the ammo manufacturers don't seem to really want to produce the required ammo loading. Until they do, I will depend more on my handloaded 22 Hornet Ackley Improved. .............

22 mag is one of my favorite calibers and around here the ammo is plentiful. I have owned a few rifles and revolvers chambered for it and have been thinking about adding another lately.

Have you looked at the CZ 512? That's the one I am probably getting next. Every review I've read has been pretty good. It's a semi-auto that shares the same mags as the CZ rimfire bolt actions. I think it would make a fine rifle next to my 10/22's.

Got to brag here I lucked up on a Marlin 25M several years ago for $110.Redid the stock and blued the barrel and trigger group. Then added a BSA 4 X12 scope.

My favorite of all guns. 100 yard shots on turtles in my lake unreal. Got two coyotes and one feral hog with it. Can't say enough about the little weapon.

Yeah the Marlin bolts are often a good deal new and used even if not the fanciest. Often accurate and my 925M was only $160 new a few years back. Worst is often the ammo I have found to be sold out or priced at least $16 to $20 for 50 rounds. Still a great round.

I had the same bug as you.
Luckily My LGS had the cure was this H&R model 700

I wasn't looking for a semi but this will chew and spit out anything fed it.

Those CZ's are very hard to beat

I want one of the Henry small game rifles. Comes with skinner peep sight, and the large lever. I've been looking for a marlin lever action .22 mag with no luck.

I looked at all my LGSs (4) and found only one Hornet (it weighed a ton), no CZs and no 9422Ms. I bought a Ruger American (I am one yawl know) with 250 cartridges. They seem plentiful here again.
Thanks for your help. I hope this thing shoots.

Yeah, I have a suggestion. GO shopping for 22 WMR ammo first. If that doesn't change your mind, Savage makes a very accurate rifle at an attractive price.

So, I finally got to the range today. I put an old (like 25 years old) Gander Mountain scope on the Ruger American 22 WMR. First 5 shot group after sighting in at 100 yards was with Hornady 30 grains. 1.5 inches. Second was with CCI Maxi Mag 40 grain FMJ/ 7/8". The next with this ammo was 3/4". I am a happy camper.

+ 1 here. I also have one of each and enjoy shooting both rifles. The 17hmr
Is a tack driver for sure. I picked up the CZ in .22 mag. Version because I liked the 17hmr so much and because I already had a fair stash of .22 mag. From owning an old Mossberg chuckster.
