S&W Heresy
Got it in a trade. Reminds me of snubby Mod 12. Unsure if I'll keep or trade away. First Colt revolver I've owned. Not a safe queen that's for sure!

Excellent every day carry gun. Compact 6-shot, rated, according to Colt, for +p .38 Specials.

That's it! You're outta here!
But seriously, you're among just a couple Colt fans. I'm guessing that's a Cobra? Good looking gun, and you don't have to baby it.
My EDC is a DS, 4th Issue, pictured at the top. My most unique is my NS.
They are as habit forming as S&W any day!

Nothing wrong with it except the cylinder rotates backwards.

And the cylinder release pushes the wrong way.

And it will do as much damage as a S&W in the same caliber...
So what's the point?

That's my biggest issue with Colt. Pushing seems normal. Pulling just seems weird and unnatural.

It's okay to talk about other brands. Really, it is.

Not if you are used to it. I probably fire my Colts more than my S&Ws, and I don't even think about it. I would personally choose a Colt DS/Agent/Cobra as a carry gun over any S&W snubby. Preferably the DS. I like steel.

I have a old style Dick special and Cobra (Both .38 -2'') Very nice guns and as there very close to the size of a J frame but gives you one more shot over the Smith.
FWIW many but not all holsters that will fit a J frame will also carry the Colt!

Yes it's an Agent and no none of my J-frame holsters fit it. I'll find someone who has to have it.

I've expressed my puzzlement here before over how quickly the J-frames managed to marginalize the Colts in terms of market share and popularity. I am not a fan of either the unsupported ejector rod of the pre-1970 Colts nor the counter-intuitive cylinder release, which does require a significantly larger shift of the gun in the shooting hand than the S&W push release, but had I been a professional carrier of a concealed sidearm back then, the sixth round would have put a DS in my duty holster. "Tactical reloads" tended to happen more in gun magazine articles; in gunfights, what's in the gun was what you had, especially before speed loaders. And a DS with a Tyler perfectly fits size-wise; more substantial and with better sights than a Chiefs Special, but more compact and less chunky on the belt than a snub-nosed K-frame.
The main reason I got to grow up a S&W guy was that by the time I got into snubbies, the Colts were priced out of my reach, and now I'm too comfortable with my Model 36 that I carry every day, even though I do also have a nice DS.

I have two Agents, a '64 and a '75. I carry the '75 pretty frequently. Both have the factory hammer shroud.
