New SIG; elite and stainless
My previous post about the double-stack 9mm got me thinking that I want a super nice, new production, double stack 9mm with a steel frame.
The options weren't numerous, so I went with the SIG P229 Elite Stainless. While on paper, the gun is ~39 ounces, it balances very well. It FEELS lighter than it actually weighs. I figure since it's the same weight as the S&W 5906, and folks carried and liked them, this SIG's weight shouldn't be a menace.
It's a nice matte finish, and sports factory rosewood grips. The beavertail frame is a very nice touch, and I really like it.
Since the 229 was built for the .40, and this one has a steel frame, I figure this 9mm will last forever. The quality on this one seems excellent.
Anyone else here a fan of the full stainless SIGS?

Awesome purchase and I'm sure that you will love it. I have a number of Sig's and they are all bullet proof when it comes to performance.

Intending on getting an all stainless 10mm P220 when they make one the way I want it. The two tone all stainless DA/SA is close, but I'd rather not have a two-tone.
Not sure I want an all stainless in other calibers. If I got back into gun games maybe a stainless P227, but so far that gun is vaporware.
As for your stainless P229 9mm, nice gun. Not a fan of the beavertail. I like that SIG is finally making the rear cocking serrations on the slide tall like the P228. I might have bought a P229 years ago if they had done that. The short height serrations just did not provide enough grip surface to my liking. Been thinking about a P229 SAS Gen 2 in .357 SIG, but rumor has it SIG may be offering the P225A1 in .357 and .40 next year. Yeah it's a single stack, but I usually carry a S&W Model 12 revolver or a Walther P5C.
You didn't include a pic of your gun, but if it is the current cataloged model, it should look like this:
EDIT: Your pic didn't show the first time I opened this thread, but shows now. So this is a bonus pic.

S/S Sigs
I own a P229 Elite Stainless in 9mm. The pistol is a brick, but it I am still a huge fan. It shoots great with very low recoil, and is of very high quality. I also have a Stainless Match Elite P220 (5" barrel) and it is equally as nice. I like the S/S models, but my favorite is an older West German 220.

Seems like they put a little extra attention into the all stainless elites. I've never owned a W.German SIG, but folks do seem to love those.
The P229 Stainless is a short and wide 'brick'. It fits perfectly into my DeSantis thumb break pancake holster designed for a Glock 30---a pistol designed for concealment.
The Stainless P220's look awesome.

I must say, finding factory 15 round magazines for this pistol (it apparently is the 'new' P229-1 magazine which also fits the M11-a1) is VERY DIFFICULT.
I would have thought such a ubiquitous and common pistol would have mags everywhere. Sig is sold out, Midway is overdue backorder. My LGS has none. I found some on Natchez Shooters; I've done business with them in the past and I hope this order works out. These mags, when you can find them, aren't cheap.
