I had a Python I was stupid I sold it. The Python is the holy grail of the American made 357 magnum revolvers. Starkey had one. So did the Frisco cop in magnum force. The Python is a work of art but over priced.

Still have a 6" one from the '70's.
But the now wife when I let her shoot it said "Thanks for the nice revolver!"
Had to marry her to keep it in the family......

Ditto, 1968 6". Got married that year so, of course, dumped it and took a bath

Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to the piggy bank tonight and see how much is there! Could be a bit short though.

I sold a 2 digit Python 3 1/2 yrs ago, no where near 16 grand.
No box or papers.
Should have kept it but it seemed like a good idea at the time.
I replaced it with 3 Smith 3rd gens and a Coonan, then put some in the savings.

Hey chief, asking and getting aren't even in the same county. Until it sells, its just a pipe dream. While you're digging deep for rare revolvers, I've got a real nice nearly pristine K22 3rd model, Real low serial #, and I'd probably let it go for half the price you're thinking about.
I bet if you shoot them side by side, shot for shot, my little Smith will run a bunch longer than that Colt. In fact, when the Colt goes in for its inevitable tune up, just shoot the K22 twice as much. Then when they send back the Colt with the big bill, go back to your side by side stuff. When the delicate snowflake Colt needs more work, wanna bet the K22 will have already become your favorite?

I love my Colts far and above any S&W, but I still keep a level head when it comes to prices and agree with the above quote.
The "Colt people" are just a complete different breed, and will pay almost anything for bragging rights. They also aren't the most logical, think for themselves type of folk either. Some are, but way too many just like to throw money away for whatever reason.
The first one or two years of the Python was the pinnacle of 357mag design. I don't care what anyone says.
