BTW, I like the HP better then a M 92 because the M 92 has over 90 parts & the HP has only 42 parts.

Very nice. The BHP is my favorite semi-auto handgun.

If I carried cocked and locked it would be one of my MkIII BHPs..............I generally settle for my Smith 915 w/ 17rd+1 .........
Always thought a great SHTF 2 gun combo would be:
My 3" 66 strong side ( w/one Comp II speedloader)...... backed up with a HP carried cross draw w/ 3 15rd Mec-gar mags.....
6 .357s backed up with a.......... New York reload...... of 15+1 124gr 9mm hollowpoints.

Here's my old Ugly. My constant truck companion. I have 3 different brand of magazines, and it works every time with any of them. The rust damage was done before I got ahold of it. It was mostly red when I bought it, but the inside was spotless. It also had the S&W type rear sight when I got it, but I've never had to adjust them.

Actually I forgot what they were. I exchanged them for a set of new factory grips but I liked the ones pictured better. The newer factory grips seem thicker and I'm not real happy with them but it's closer to my old BHP "original" in looks now, just feels thicker.
IT was one of those IDF weapons I got online for about $425 or so, beat to you know where and back...FYI if anyones interested here it is stripped, tagged and bagged:

I practice and preach "muzzle awareness", nothing "ticks me off" more than having some "cretain" point his gun at me, while he's got his head "up his butt".
having said that, nothing, and I do mean nothing, actually spins on your fore-finger like a HI-Power! most beautifully balanced firearm I have ever handled, best reserved for you own "UNLOADED" sessions in front of the mirror!

The US was never a big market for 9mm until the Wonder-9 revolution in the late80s model 59, Beretta 92 and Sig 226.
Browning had been importing HPs for at least a couple of decades...... + war surplus guns were IIRC cheap and easy to come by.........there were some other Eastern European makers .....which made some nice HP clones ;cheap.
Today if I was starting over .......... I'd be hard pressed not to go the CZ route............still might ........ love their rifles!!!!!!

I had an identical Hi-Power, but sold it to a LEO to fund the purchase of the first stainless Loaded Springfield 1911. I wish I had the .40 back! but the Springer is nice too, but that was an awesome Browning!

Well VIS35, I get what you're saying, but really that finish is called neglect. When I got it, it was covered with rust. Steel wool and WD40 gave it the current "patina".
I was hoping someone would post pics of the used FN, FEG, Mauser, and Israeli surplus HPs that Bud's sold recently. I was really tempted by those.

Personal favorite is this Mk III in .40 S&W with HP-SFS
The Hi-Power Mark III with HP-SFS (Safe-Fast-Shooting) firing mechanism.
After the weapon is loaded, the hammer is pushed forward, which automatically activates the safety catch. When the shooter is prepared to fire, the safety is pressed down with the thumb, releasing the hammer to spring backwards into the usual, single-action position.
Magazines are interchangeable with the Mark III and others.
