Default Rimfire Revolvers

Are there any rimfire revolver enthusiasts out there? I see a lot about the S&W Victory Pistol and the threads keep coming on the venerable S&W Model 41, but I seldom to never hear about rimfire revolvers, Smith & Wesson or otherwise. Anyone have any favorites to share? Thank you!

I have a Smith & Wesson 617-6 4in. I put a red dot on it. Got some Ansac speed loaders and use it to shoot our local steel match. Lots of fun.

I have owned a S&W 650 for several years. It prefers the 33 grain Remington ammo.

I think I bought this S&W 63 in late 2009. It was thrown from a moving vehicle and damaged. The good folks in Springfield fixed it for me.

When I get a set of inserts, this S&W 53 will be a rim fire revolver.

My favorite to carry though is the S&W 317 at the top of this photo.

I have many 22 revolvers, but this is my favorite one to shoot for accuracy.
A 2nd Model Single Shot from 1909.

This 1948 K-22 Masterpiece is also very accurate and a lot of fun!

I shoot 34's/63's/17's/18's/617's & Ruger single sixes..........Does that count......Sadly I went through 6 gun stores in NE Georgia last week and only found 1 S&W revolver....all were filled with plastic/1911's & AR's.

I am quite fond of my .22 LR SAA type revolvers. My wife bought me the bottom one pictured below as a give when we were dating in 1981 and I've fired a zillion rounds through it and it's filled many a cook pot and frying pan with squirrel and rabbit meat. It's taken a good share of varmints too in the past 35 years.

Uberti Stallion SAA
Colt's Scout
H.S. Heritage SAA

This High Standard Double Nine was passed down to me and it's a fine shooter as well. My dad bought this one in 1969 for $15.00

I have a few:

Much beloved 1950s vintage K 22 with Sile grips.

S&W 317 and Colt Bankers Special.

Iver Johnson Targer Model 57A. Fun to shoot but not quite as accurate as my K 22.

Clement Arms Baby in 22 short. Ineresting story with this one; my grandfather lived in Westfield NJ, next to an older couple. The man had been a Custom's Agent at Ellis Island. When he died, his widow found several guns: a French Mle 92 service revolver, a Ruby, an old model IJ in 32 and this revolver, all probably taken from immigrants passing through Ellis Island. She wanted them out of the house and he wound up with them.

Rick, 22 revolvers are good for target or plinking, vermin control, small game hunting, woods walking and self defense if it comes down to that's what you have.

I have my Dad's circa late 59 4 5/8" Ruger Single Six, a mid 50's K-22 Masterpiece, a Ruger Bearcat and an Astra Constable 22.

I use all except the Bearcat on a regular basis. I learned on the old Ruger. I've used it to teach many folks handgun safety and how to shoot a handgun.

I truly love the accuracy of the old K-22 Masterpieces. I've owned 5 over the years. Should have kept them all.

With 22 handguns, mostly the Ruger, I've shot Armadillos, possoms, skunks, raccoons, poison snakes around the barn or house, squirrels, rabbits, rats, feral things like a woods born and raised huge tomcat that was attacking and killing my little sisters newborn kittens in the barn, shot pigs and beef for slaughter, frogs, pond turtles, ground hogs and more I'm sure.

In retrospect one could buy a Ruger single six and shoot it forever on the money saved by not buying another 22 revolver. This one did all Dad wanted to do, my Bro and I learned on it and brought home many meals. My Bro bought one like it but with the 6.5" bbl and that's the only 22 handgun he's owned.

I am a revolver enthusiast who loves shooting those wheelguns. I got a K-22, Colt OMM and about half a dozen rimfire Korths.

The Colt OMM, the K-22 and the Korths are all quality revolvers and capable of excellent accuracy. The main difference is in their finish and trigger characteristics.

I even used a rimfire conversion in my Python .

I have a S&W 617 6". Of my 4 handguns, it is the one I shoot most often at the range.

My pre-18, although not pristine by any stretch of the imagination is one fine small group shooter.

I have 3! A 34 4'' nickel purchased in mid 70s. A 18 4'' purchased late 70s. A model 17 6'' purchased in 2013.

The 34 has been carried on a few trips afield. Put Mustang grips on it right after I bought it.

I've had a lot of 22 revolvers. I'm partial to the model 17, but the model 18 is a close second. It might be my favorite, but I only have one and don't shoot it often.

There's a Uberti Stallion for sale, used, that I might make an offer on this morning. I have a colt frontier scout, but that is nickel plated, and want a case hardened SAA, too.

I had a pre-18 years ago, did not care for it. It was not as accurate as my three 622/2206 pistols. It was heavier than my 4" 66-2. I sold it to a forum member, who sold it again about a year later to another forum member. Maybe it will turn up in this thread.

Someone mentioned the HS Sentinel, a fine, inexpensive handgun, originally. These have achieved cult status here in metro Atlanta and most are priced over $300.00; even the Western Auto Revelation and J.C. Higgins versions. Nice guns, but not that nice by any stretch of the imagination.

Like model70 hunter I have had or have multiple .22 revolvers and automatic pistols.
I have had two Ruger Bearcats, and still have one. For carrying in my saddlebags, I find the Bearcat the perfect size. Much of the country I ride in does not require anything available larger than a .22, shot and Velocitor ammunition, in the cylinder. In country that does need a larger gun, for 2 legged or 4 legged varmints, certainly something larger than the Bearcat is available. Mine is somewhat worn in appearance.
The grandson likes shooting the Bearcat also! 😊

My 1981 Model 63 is a fine .22 and very accurate. Was able to obtain a set of J-Frame square butt target grips on Ebay and that makes it easier to handle for those with larger hands. Also found S&W leather holster for it at yard sale (the one on the right in picture). Great combo for range, trail gun, camping, etc.

These pre-1982 stainless models with pinned barrels are hard to find and they bring premium prices when you do find one.

Among the pile, I also have one of the blued 17-8 10shots - absolutely one of my favorites! I take it on every hunting trip in case we stumble on the small dinner food creatures, with legs, wings or both.

Smith & Wesson Model 34-1, a 617, and my favorite, a model 63. All three are 4 inch and pinned barrels. Several other 22 rim fires but they are semiautos.

I have got several 22 revolvers, 3-K22s, 1-m18, 2-m34s, 1-m63
and 2 Ruger Single-sixes. I have a dozen other H&R, IJ, ect but
they are in transit status. My 1st quality revolver was S-6, but
once I shot a K22, I was hooked on S&W. I did dabble in semi
autos for awhile. The top shelf auto were shooters, but never
liked them as carry guns in the field. I can't even estimate how
many good 22 pistols I have owned. The one thing I do know,
K22 is hard to beat.

I have a Model 34. I bought it about a year ago for pocket change...I would really like to take it to the pit for some trigger time, but it appears unfired so I guess I had best leave it alone. I also have a Colt 22 Peace Maker with the extra magnum cylinder. It has been fired and also has factory ivory grips.

As always great pictures. I think we all should show up at your house for breakfast with all our guns and have you snap pictures while we chow down.

liked them as carry guns in the field. I can't even estimate how
many good 22 pistols I have owned. The one thing I do know,
K22 is hard to beat.
You and I must have done the same 22 handgun trail.

Before I left Mo I gifted my son a super nice HS my uncle had gifted me many years ago.

I think I drank the kool aid on every Ruger semi auto target model made. Not sure why they never felt right in my hand.

When I go hunting I'll grab the K-22, for just knocking around the Ruger or Astra go with me.

I only have one, a new Ruger SP101. I wanted the new GP100 in .22 but couldn't find one. It was 200 bucks cheaper than the 617 they had there, and the trigger was nicer on the 617, but I hate the internal lock and the 200 bucks cheaper sealed the deal.

People complain about the heavy trigger on the Ruger but I have no issue with it.

I have only one 22 handgun, a late '70s or early '80s vintage K22 with the 3Ts. I originally purchased it for my 22 stage pistol in NRA 2700 3 gun bullseye matches. I have fallen in love with it. I now use it for bullseye matches and general plinking, because it is usually economical to shoot, especially when 22s were affordable and plentiful!

High Standard Sentinel snubby, Mod 34 2'' I have had for the longest.

Then earlier this year a guy comes by with a K22 from 1947 needing money

Then a Ruger Single Six 22rf/22mag from 1965 in the box fell

from the sky

A lot of us on here have a K-22 or 17. 1931 K-22 here.

Just have the one. Nothing special about the finish; it's just an off-the-shelf Single Six convertible.

I call it my Lone Ranger gun but that's on account of the knife.

I love me some .22 wheel guns.
I currently have 5, all S&Ws. A 4" 34-1, 6" 17-5, 6" 17-6 (full lug) and two Model 18-3s.
Of the two Model 18s, one is box stock. The other was worked over by a previous owner to be a cheap practice stand in for its centerfire brothers. It has a smooth faced trigger, RR, WO, Butler Creek combat grips and a really slick trigger job. I shoot this one more than any other revolver I own and usually in DA mode. I give this gun full credit for teaching me to properly shoot a DA revolver.

My wife and I both really enjoy our .22 caliber rimfire revolvers, unfortunately for me her favorite is mine too! The Model 17-8 with a S&W replaced 10 shot stainless cylinder and scope is just a total target annihilator. Especially with a Speed Beez loading block and speedloader.

The 1951 shipped K-22 6 inch is a favorite too.

When the ranges get longer, cans and targets beware the 617 no dash TT/TH/TS, 8 3/8ths inch Long Tom.

The 617-6 4 inch, ten shot is another joy to shoot, especially after I ditched the factory rubber for a set of restored S&W round butt Combat Stocks!

A 17-3 in its original box is almost too pretty to shoot.

My favorite single action .22, even though my Ruger Single six is more accurate, is this 1975 vintage Colt New Frontier Buntline .22LR/.22 Mag.

An early 1980's Ruger Single-Six Convertible with the now discontinued 9.5 inch tube. My wife loves to blow-up full diet soda cans with .22 Mags fired from this revolver.

Everybody needs at least one inexpensive knock around .22 and the H&R R-92 fills the bill with 9 rounds of shooting fun.

Only a couple of revolvers.
Model 63nd 4" which I've found perfect for teaching new shooters & especially my grandkids with their small hands. Neat little field gun too.
And a Model 17-4 6" which is probably my favorite .22 handgun.

Wow! Nice collections. I only have two: A Model 63 Kit Gun circa 1978, as well as a Ruger fixed- sight Single Six.

i'd love a model 17, but they are too pricey for a knock around every day snake gun.
i settled for a ruger single 10.
it's sturdy, but already looks beat up.
since i wear it every day while doing chores it gets lots of dings.
