Default Cowboy Up

In spite of the fact that I have never really enjoyed shooting single-action revolvers, the inner cowboy in the me came out and I had to put this on layaway yesterday.

Third generation SAA, in 357 Magnum, with a 4 5/8" barrel. Perfect for me since I already load 38/357. I don't think it's ever been fired, I can't find a scratch on it, not even a turn line. No box or papers.

It was tagged at $1200.00, I got it for a little less. No idea if that was good, bad, or indifferent, but I haven't seen a SAA for less in a while.

I know next to nothing about Colt single actions, so I can't help with whether or not it was a good price. But it sure is a pretty one, and I'd be proud to own it.

I have owned dozens of SAA's and don't own one today but still love them.
Typically 357's don't bring the money the 44's and 45's do, but I don't think you got hurt. My only complaint about the 357's is the weight with the little holes in the barrel and cylinder.

It weighs much less than a Ruger original Vaquero!

Also the heavier weight of a 357 won't twirl like a Colt 45 or 44-40!

Congratulations,
You did good.

I happen to like Colt's Single Action Army and that is my favorite barrel length

Nice! As for a turn line, a properly-handled SAA will never develop one. Never decock from half-cock; always bring it to full-cock before lowering the hammer.

Thanks. That's something I have learned just this morning. Good to know.

I know most people would rather have a 44/45 but I already reload for 38/357 and have coffee can full of brass so a 357 is perfect for me.

That's a beauty Cajun and at that price you did well.

Every gun enthusiast has to have one SAA in his or her
stable of guns at one point in their lives.

I have two right now and they are favorites of mine.

Have fun with it and let us know it shoots for you.

That's a nice pistol and I think you did good. I'm too poor to own a Colt but I have two Ruger 3 screw .357s and one .44. I understand the cowboy part because that is why I like them. I very rarely carry one but they are fun to play with. I see many people now that use 2 hands to shoot a pistol and a SA can be shot very fast with 2 hands. Larry

You did just fine! You would have paid 25% more around here..at least. I am carrying a 3 1/2 right now.

Now you need a Marlin 1894 .357 to go with it, once they start making that caliber again, possibly in 2017.
