Ruger Stainless Super Blackhawk 4 5/8" (pics)...
I've been saving up since May of this year to get a Ruger 4 5/8" Stainless Super Blackhawk (.44 Magnum caliber). Got my money right, then had to wait about a month while the revolver was on back order. Got a call on Tuesday (before Thanksgiving) that it had arrived at my LGS. Got it yesterday, and today after a little Thanksgiving turkey, ran just a few 240 grain jacketed rounds through it to make sure it worked.
I spray painted a small orange dot on a dead tree, then fired six rounds at 15 yards. Never touched the sights, seems to shoot dead on:

After a second cylinder full, shot a gallon jug of water at 20 yards, aiming at the label on the jug. Of course the jug was satisfyingly obliterated, the label went flying and was recovered some yards away, with a very nice .44 caliber hole in it:

So far, I'm very pleased with it. Only 13 rounds through it so far, I'll wring it out more thoroughly tomorrow.
More to follow!

Another one of those guns I wish I'd never sold off. sniff-sniff... It shot exceptionally well everything from 210 grain to 315 grain.

I'd send it back. Looks like it shoots nearly a half inch high and to the right at 20 yards. Unacceptable!

Good looking revolver. Short barreled handguns have always been my thing. That 4 5/8" single action is exactly what I'd pack if I packed a SA, SS revolver.

Good looking revolver, just right for handy packing in the outdoors. If
it were mine I'd probably load it with a good midrange load with a
250 gr cast SWC. I would think that full power loads might be a bit
unpleasant to fire. Or maybe I'm just getting old.

Then why does Ruger rollmark it "Super Blackhawk" on the left side?

I had one but got rid of it. I replaced it with a .45 Colt Blackhawk which is a lighter carry, and just as powerful (with my loads). All in all, it's a real good packing pistol for those forays into woodsy areas........

Took the Super Blackhawk out for a little walk in the woods today, and ran about 50 more rounds through it. Some of my pet hand load 240 grainers, Sierra and Hornady 240 grain JHP's at 1250 FPS, and some 240 grain cast lead at 900 FPS. Shot at some steel targets at 20-30 yards, holding at six o'clock seemed to keep all hits centered on the steel. Also walked a soda can out to 25 yards with the cast lead rounds.
The revolver seems very accurate, nice trigger and sights, a very servicable gun.
Some pics of steel and soda can:

A Three Persons style holster I got off Ebay:

I'm looking forward to doing some more experimenting with some stouter loads for this revolver, maybe some 300 grain cast lead....
