Top: Late 1930s H&R "Expert". I would be a more "expert" plinker with it if it had a more useful rear sight. The one it has is built into the break-open latch and is about 2mm high and 1mm wide.
Bottom: 1974 Ruger Standard. A blast to shoot, and a b****h to maintain.
I plink, therefore I am.

I plink with all of these, and a few more besides. The little Clement 'Baby' in 22 short doesn't get much use. When I don't want to shoot a lot of ammo, I drag out the Hammerli. All are death on beer cans of which the roadsides here in rural Texas have an endless supply.

Newer picture taken while out at the range today of my 22/45. Also an update on the S&W 2214. The 2214 was giving me fits over the reliability and break in time. Switched to CCI MiniMags (chance WM find)... OMG!! Instant improvement. It gobbled 'em up without as much as a hiccup. Now to figure out what to do with these Winchester 555 Super ****** X's. None of my pistols like it.

It's a bit of a toss up:
I like the longer sight radius on my Mk I Target (T678), but I prefer the balance of my Mk II Bull Barrel. Both weigh the almost exactly the same at 41.6 oz and 41.8 oz.

I have a few MKII's but this 34 is also a favorite. The lighter the bullet the closer it hits to POA. Stingers are dead on, 36 gr hp's hit 4" higher and 40gr solids shoot the clip holding the target at an indoor range. Joe

I have a couple dozen .22s and this one shoots as good as any of them:
This one truly drives tacks:
Dont know if I would consider it a plinker

ol777gunnerz, if you look closely at this 1926 photo, from the Manhattan Rifle and Revolver Assoc, at 24 Murray St., in Manhattan, where I used to shoot when I was a kid, there is H.M. Pope sitting at the table with what might be one of your guns.

stu1ritter The 1st model of 91 was shot there, Dr. R H Sayre was its owner, as well as a member of the club. He was also a founder & long time president & vice president of the United States Revolver ***'n. When HM Pope re-sleeved the barrel, it was chambered for 22 short, for indoor range shooting tournaments which had become popular. Thanks for posting the photo.

I don't do a lot of plinking, but I do use this little Taurus Model 94
9 shot .22 for new shooters first shooting lesson. Not much noise
or recoil. Then we gradually move up in calibers.
Altamont walnut boot grips.
The leather is Heiser model 759.
HKS 9 shot speed loaders.
Ammo by CCI.

guess i have 3 plinkers in my little collection.
The old Colt (a '51 Challenger) was handed down to me 4 years ago, was my father-in-law's for decades and though i was already in my 50's it became my first gun starting me in this hobby. It still shoots nice, i just dont take it out much. But the significance of being a family piece is what means the most to me.
The Buckmark was my first purchase, and is my favorite overall .22 shooter. Looks nice and shoots far better than I can lol.
And the little Compact was added for a 2nd range toy, and it does that very well.

This is a good thread that needs reviving!
I put this one together this year.
CMMG upper
Palmetto lower
Timney trigger
Sparrow can
It's a hoot to shoot...
