Kimber K6 revolver
Anybody have one? Comments? Looks like a quality piece.
I might buy one if they become available in a 3"
Hickok45 just posted his review.

I like the Kimber 6 after watching the Video. That's more info. than I had before the viedo. But that $ 899.00 price tag is out of my price range for now.

No thanks! Just doesn't do anything for me. I'll stick with my various J frames.

Not at that price range. I like the look. Seems like a more refined Ruger SP101 with 6 rounds but for the money id rather get the Ruger

Of course I'm a Smith & Wesson guy and a more than a little biased. Overall the Kimber left me a bit cold.
We got one in at work last Monday. I like the sizes (plus 1), found the trigger pull interesting (neither a plus or minus) hated the overall lack of quality look to it (minus 1) high price (another minus 1)
As to the trigger pull: it has very different feel to the double action trigger pull than any other double action I've handled. at first it feels like any other trigger as you begin to pull the trigger, then the pressure and trigger pull weight drops and the the hammer falls. It just feels kind of weird not bad but very different. I did't try to run a real speed test to see if you can overrun the trigger and lock it up.
The over all quality seems to be very good but over all with overly broken rounded edges it just looks like a cheap gun...think Haws or Rohn revolvers for the look. It feels like a quality piece but doesn't look it. I think the overall cheap look may hurt sales of the Kimber's at its price point. At below the Kimbers price point there are many other choices. I don't think old time died in the wool revolver shooters will be buyers and new to revolver people may opt for more budget friendly options. Of course who knows if all the gun rags call it the best thing since slice bread maybe it will be a must have gun.
For me this revolver had very little appeal. I wish I could take one to the range and give it a run but I'm not willing to spend my money to do it.

Mr.Bates,
I don't agree at all! I handled one & went over it ....didn't find it "cheap"!! Like you ,I want to shoot one.I won't buy at $899...wait awhile & it should settle in at $7hundred plus.Looking for another revolver to carry besides my model 60 & my model 65-3!

I didn't say I found it cheap, I said it looked cheap. It was more of a fit and finish thing. I'm think they tumble polish the parts before assembly so the edges where the side plate and from meet are rounded...think bad blue job look. No one is ever going to say the frame is cracked when looking at the side plate like we hear no and then with Smith & Wessons, Colts and Rugers.
The Kimber feels like a quality piece it just doesn't look it.

It looks interesting. I'd want to get one in my hands and hopefully shoot one before making a judgement on it. Seriously doubt that I'd buy one. Especially at that price. Too many other quality guns out there for much less money.
I've never really cared for Kimbers anyway. I find them to be over rated and over priced.

Perhaps the rounded edges are considered just the thing for CCW.
The price is nuts, though.

Like several post stated. At the asking price ( IMO typical Kimber-over priced/over rated) there are numerous high quality & proven options from S&W and Ruger available at 1/2 to 2/3 the price. Just sayin'

I considered the Kimber, but ended up buying the S&W 640 Pro. The Kimber holds one more round; the S&W comes with night sights, and I know how to work on a S&W.

I guess I'll have to try one for myself but that sounds terrible, one of the best things about my S&W revolvers is that the triggers are smooth and consistent all the way through.

I just cant get over its looks. Looks like it was designed on a computer. No style or craftsmanship. I would pass just on that factor.

Have handled 2 of the K6ses'. Quality fit and finish, Adjustable rear sight and pinned front sight. Night sights are in the works. Action very smooth and light. Weight comparable to my 640Pro. Better action than my 640 Pro and grip very comfortable.
Price was $739.00 for each and both were sold or one of them would have been mine. Gun store manager let me try one and the new owner let me try the other. I got a 640 Pro that's in jeopardy!

Stopped on the way home yesterday and looked at one. looked well made, but how do you justify the price when there are three quality brands on the shelf next to it at just over half the price? dealer said it's for the "gotta have one" folks with too much cash.

The only reason my local dealer has ordered any K6 revolvers, he has three or four loyal "Got to have the newest" customers.
I agree the competion smokes the Kimber value wise.

Looks to me like it has some nice features, although I'd personally prefer a 2-1/2" or 3" barrel for .357 mags.

Yea thats kind of my assessment of it. Nothing special, non traditional looks and I would NEVER own a revolver without a hammer.

I looked at one today at the LGS and I liked everything about it except the price - $839. Perhaps when it drops to a more reasonable figure, I will buy one.

The 2 K6s revolvers that I looked at were 739. I paid close to that when I bought my 640 Pro.

Looks like a good concealed carry gun, but like many say it needs a 3 inch barrel. It wouldn't replace my current carry guns. Love them S&Ws.

Interesting. A bit difficult to buy into a new brand at that price. I'm already happy with what S&W, Ruger and Colt have out there, can't see myself going for one of these, I'd be looking to spend that kind of money on an older offering from the big 3 but that's just me.

I have yet to handle a K6S in person but if the action feels good and these guns prove to be reliable $739 seems reasonable.
If Kimber will make a version with a 3" barrel and exposed hammer, I would rather buy that than a new 66 snub, since the Kimber has no internal lock or MIM parts.

I handled one a month or so ago. Seems to have potential. Looks like Kimber rooted through S&W, Colt, and Ruger designs, using some features of each.
If one shows up with night sights, I'll likely buy it to pull apart and shoot. Esp. if it takes Detective Special speed loaders.

Yeah, me too ! I like it, but not $900 worth. I like my 640 no dash better, even though it's only a puny li'l .38.

I got mine locally for $721. Went to the range with Win 110gr 357 and Hornady 38 special 125gr and the gun performed flawlessly. I shot 25 each of the 38 and 357 and the 38 had NO felt recoil. The 357 had significant but controllable recoil. I was able to get good defensive groupings at 30'. The trigger is fabulous! Accustomed to staging with Smiths over the years, this gun was made for that purpose. I could not find a single sharp edge except when I removed the grips. I suppose this is done this way for pocket carry, but the gun is too heavy for my pockets anyway. The gun looks very nicely made to me, a bit like a SP101 and as a Ruger armorer I wanted to look inside to see how close it is to the 101, but elected not to. All in all I am very pleased. I was looking for a SW 60/640 pro when I came across this. Prices are CRAZY for all these guns.

Have you tried using a K-frame speedloader with it, or vice versa?

I looked one over at the gun show last weekend. Nice piece. Decent weight, nice balance, fit and finish were fine, action was smooth and decently light. Price tag on it was $1050. I thought that price was a bit on the ridiculously high side, even for a gun show.

Have not used speedloader, I used the supplied "speed strip" Desantis, not the Bianchi one. Seems Kimber and Desantis teamed up as desantis got the speed stick deal and they have a large assortment of holsters available for the K6s.
The grips made by Crimson are shock absorbing and I really like the palm swells. I think this gun was thought out nicely.

HKS #10 speedloader
Well, had to try. Got an HKS #10 and the speedloader worked fine with the K6s.

Extremely overpriced for a revolver with black sights that need to be painted to see. I am impressed with the accuracy and function... but, you have to be a real Kimber enthusiast to spend that kind of money on a firearm that has competition that performs as well for over $200 less. Kimber got a lot right... but not the price.

Fondled one at the LGS the other day and really liked it. I actually like the styling. Yes it's 'different,' but hey, it's 2016, not 1916, and this is a brand new revolver design from a company that's never made a revolver before. I like the "fresh slate" approach and result.
Aside from its interesting looks/design, I think the quality was pretty good. IMO, not necessarily as good as nice Python, or older S&W, but nice. The finish on the gun is real nice, the fit seems good, but not bank vault lock up/fitment... The one thing that really stood out, to me, was the trigger. Loved it! Pull weight seemed very light, and the trigger pull had a stack to it, but it was a smooth transition through the stack, and the break was very light. I always like the stacked trigger pull on Colt revolvers, and find that you can easily pull right through the stack, or use it to set up a precise shot with a single action-like break. This little Kimber had a similar trigger, I like it. Much better/lighter than any of my newer S&W revolvers... I also really like the grip, and the gun balanced well in the hand.
On the negative side of things, I thought the trench-like sights were ok, if not a bit underwhelming. I suppose for a concealed carry revolver, with the intended use being up close and personal, they are adequate. And again, the fitment of the gun was good, but not great IMO.
I do not really see the size/weight comparison being measured against the J frame Smiths, or SP-101. This is a six shot, more akin to a K frame, but seemed more concealable. Reminded me even more of a Colt Detective Special, but a bit slimmer.
Finally, yes, I think the price is a bit steep, but I'm still interested. Like many new releases, I think they are coming out of the gate a bit high, but will come down some. My LGS had it at $885 OTD, and I wasn't reaching for my wallet. At around $750 OTD, I'd be more inclined to find it a home. Of course, lower would be better... I'm trying to remember what I paid for my last L frame, 686+ (Talo) that I bought last year, but I think it was around $720 +\-...
I'll check back later next year on the Kimber to see where the price has settled, and in the meantime will enjoy my nice S&W, Colt, and Ruger revolvers... .

I modified the #10 speedloader a bit as it was hard to pull it away from the cylinder after dumping your rounds.(grip issue) A bit of sanding on the speedloader does the job.
I think the gun looks like an Sp101, but it much closer to the size of a Colt. In fact, cylinder width of the K6s is 1.39, SP101 is 1.34, Colt Det 1.40, and K frame 1.45. My J frame is 1.31.
The trigger IS a fine feature.

I don't have one...yet. I've played with them at SHOT and the NRA conferences. This coming Monday I hope to shoot one at the 2017 SHOT Show media day.

Was at Sportsmans Wherehouse & had the opportunity to handle one that was on the shelf. I will say it had a mirror finish, seemed well made and fit my hand. But at $800 I'll pass. I'll stick with my Model 638, which I paid less than half of the K6, for my cc gun.

I like my SP101. Just saw a used K6 locally on Armslist. Seller said someday he'll regret selling it. Asking $1050!
