Default S&W/ T/C Customer Service frustration

Hello all,

Bought a new T/C Venture Predator in .22-250 end of last September. Had to send the rifle in for repair as wasn't getting sub moa accuracy and had excessive fouling issues when loads weren't even going that fast. Anyhow told me as I kept calling to check on it its a 6 week turnaround. Well its been well past that as of the middle of Nov.

End of Dec said finally was being evaluated in the Performance Center. Are you kidding me takes two and a half months to finally get something evaluated? Anyhow called again been about week or two since that and they said it had to have the frame replaced and needed an FFL. I gave them that info yesterday. They had tried to call me previously this week or end of last but my number was outdated. That's my bad but would make no difference on the time only a few days if anything.

I call them back today since they said they'd call me to just make sure on everything. Now the rep tells me they are waiting on receivers. Are you serious? Just barely made the evaluation of what needed done and got to wait on them to get parts??? Rep yesterday made it sound like it was ready to go and just needed the FFL info.

She said she'd look into it again and call me tomorrow(which they haven't after getting my new number) I sure hope don't have to wait on receivers and she misinterpreted. If so i'm going to tell them I just want them to send me a new rifle and communicate my frustrations without being rude or intense, to also offer some other compensation for the trouble.

Anyone else had bad luck with a repair through Smith and T/C?

Compared to Taurus, they are moving at warp speed!

Taurus is really that slow? Wow . Yeah that's he thing about Taurus/Rossi and they make a appealing budget firearm but any things wrong boy watch out!

Update on this all. Smith called me today and said if the receivers were gonna be a while they'd let me have a new firearm. Though it may need to be a new chambering. I'd really like it in 22-250 though. We will see said they'd know more Monday.

If they won't have the caliber you want, I would say keep it and refund my money.
Look elsewhere.

Yeah, I thought long and hard about that particular rifle and chambering. I don't want a Predator in any other caliber. I've invested dies for reloading, components etc to reload 22-250 and that's what I'm set on here. Already have a .223 bolt and don't want a .204. Hard to believe all the Ventures they sell they don't have another Predator 22-250 in their stocks. I'll know soon but good point.

If that's what they tell me then I'll say they just need to pay me back for what I paid for it through my dealer and I'll use it toward something else.

Yes Taurus is really that slow! 4 month minimum on everything sent back for service, even brand new out of the box issue! My best friend complained about the terrible trigger pull on a 22 revolver. They had it about 5.5 months and did a fantastic action job, but left the monstrous trigger spring. He has about 20,000 (or a lot more now) through it, the action is so smooth you wouldn't believe it, but on DA you really build finger muscles!

I had their reproduction of the Colt Lightning slide action rifle in 45 Colt. Every spring was bad from the factory, so off to Florida it went! 4 months later they finally looked at it (after I chewed on a rep at the NRA convention for an hour) and decided to replace the rifle. When it arrived 6.5 months after I sent the first one in, the springs were good, but the fit up was horrible and the action "caught" every time you cycled it. I never fired the second one! I sold it to Cabela's (and made money on it, not counting interest for 5.5 years!) Like my friend and his 22, I was afraid to send it back!

Ivan
