Certain guns (like this one and the Python above) are simply works of art in my book.... ... and I have a hard time shooting works of art, especially when I'm the one who has to clean them.

The truth is that I hate cleaning guns anyway, even the ones that aren't works of art. That's why I enjoy shooting other people's guns more than my own. But by having dedicated shooters and dedicated safe queens, at least it keeps my cleaning obligations (and procrastination in that regard) somewhat under control.

Yup. Went on a gun buying spree this year and have a few that haven't been to the range yet. Some were bought used as project guns. Others are waiting for optics or other mods.

Back in 1998 when their importation was stopped, I bought a Poly Technologies Legend Series AK. This is the one with a forged steel receiver, not stamped sheet metal. I figured if I didn't buy it then, I wouldn't get to own one in the future. It is still in the box. I have never fired it.

Collectors do it all the time. For my part, I have a number of older but post war N-Frame Smith's, an unfired early North Hollywood AutoMag and a bunch of Bren Tens.

I have 2 Garands. I shoot one every year, right at this time. 100 rounds a year. This year it is the HRA's turn. Then I clean it and put it away. Love those guns and will never sell them.

I bought a Colt Trooper V about 6 months ago that supposedly has not ever been shot. So far I haven't shot it but I don't know if it will remain shot free. I am really tempted to shoot it to see how it shoots.

Back when Clinton got himself elected, I saw the high capacity mag ban coming. So I went down and bought myself a Para Ordinance P13 just because. It was a nice milled steel .45 with 13 round mags. I was so proud.

But never proud enough to actually shoot it. Every range trip I took guns I always looked forward to shooting while the P13 gathered dust. Never did shoot it and finally traded it a few years back. It still had the factory grease in it.

What did I trade it for? One of those disparaged, slandered, but oh so much fun Governators. Now that one do get shot.

Just a matter of time. I bought this really nice condition Colt 1877 which was made around 1902, and is in 38 Long Colt caliber. I have a couple of boxes of empty brass for it, and keep thinking of running up some mild rounds to shoot in it, but have never gotten around to it. It is mechanically perfect, and functions as it should, and locks up like a new recolver. Has most of its original finish as well, and I don't think it was ever shot very much:

Wish Colt still did some of this bluing!!

One of these days I'll get around to shooting it....

Best Regards, Les

I've bought, sold, and traded guns I've never fired.

Right now, I suppose most of the ones I've got, I have never fired. I'm sure someone has, I just haven't.

Most prominent now I suppose is the 38/44 Heavy Duty I bought a few weeks/months ago. I don't think it's been fired, and I doubt I ever will.

I bought one also, and still have it. I shot it some when I first bought it, but not for several years now. I can only shoot so many guns at a time!! But I know better than to get rid of it, because as soon as I would, I would develop another desire to play around with AKs again. Besides, it seems to be increasing in value every year.

Best Regards, Les

I've been doing them since around 1999. I got real good at internet searches, reading want ads on computer websites and bulletin boards plus you get to know people. Smith collectors do it the same way.

The early North Hollywood AutoMag is a nice gun also becuase they were built with mostly NOS Pasadena parts.

Funny but I had a couple opportunities here in MA to buy a MAK-90 for under $500 each. Now, since our lunatic MA AG lady unilaterally banned dealer sale/transfer of all AR & AK variants, the damn things are going for $1,100 to as much as $1,800.

Default 66-3 3" and Ruger 77/22 Varmint

As like everyone else I HAD to have that 66-3". It is all that but it doesnt conceal like a J frame and I cannot hit as well as my 5" 686 or 5" pre 27 so it stays in the safe. Bought the 77/22 Varmint .22lr for metalic silhouet shooting and starting working six day weeks and lost interest in competition

Had to have a new Model 36 a few years back, would be my EDC in familiar surroundings. The stock grips look nice, but are too small, even with a Tyler T-grip. Tried a number of grip combos, didn't shoot bad, but couldn't get comfortable with it. In the meantime, picked up a used Model 49 with Pachmyr grips. I shoot it better, so it's become my go-to snubby. Don't know what's gonna happen to the 36. I still like it, but if something else comes down the road I have to have, the 36 may wind up in someone else's safe.

In the 70's, I used to hunt with a friend that had a Browning Sweet 16. I sure liked that gun. So, I always wanted 1. In the late 80's I bought a A-5 Browning 12 ga. Magnum at the gun show as used. Upon examining it at home, it still had the shipping goop inside the barrel. Was unfired. Never shot or enjoyed it for the 5 years that I owned it. Did make $150 profit at the gun show when I sold it. Bottom line is, I never truly GOT to enjoy it as it should have been. It was the only 1 I ever owned. Bob

I wouldn't say "never" but after a couple hundred rounds the Ruger Bisley .454 just never seems to make it into the range bag.

Just one. An ANIB Model 19-3, 6 inch in nickle. Test fired at the factory only. Has a three digit serial number that is the same as my first badge number. I take it out and admire it on a regular basis, but have never fired it, and won't.

Another one that stays on the wall is this M 10 280 caliber Ross. It is the last model of Ross, and the one that gave it a bad name when used as a military rifle. The bolt head can be turned in the bolt so that the lugs don't turn when you close it, and there's nothing holding it shut. Mine is put together correctly. However there was much controversy when they were current about whether some of them cam open even when assembled correctly. At this far remove, it's hard to judge whether there was a problem; I'm staying on the safe side and I just admire it's workmanship. Shooting quantities of ammo are impossible to find and as far as I know nobody makes .288" diameter bullets (Barnes used to have them years ago but I think they're long discontinued)
