Ruger Redhawk 44mag with Leupold 2 power scope. Very good condition. What is it worth?

Is it worth $600 or should I save towards a Smith 629? I'm not certain how Rugers compare to Smiths. Any feedback is appreciated.

I would say it is well worth 600 in my area the 44 sells for 600 to 650 without the scope. A leupold scope is 150 used so this would be a good deal to me. Also the "hunter" models with the scope mount cuts are more desirable. It will never have the trigger of the 629, but will stand up to heavier loads better than the 629.

You would giving up the beast for beauty if you go to any smith. The redhawk is absurdly strong and will handle the max loads offered today. In addition, about 500 dry fire cycles will smooth the trigger.
It will never have a Smith trigger but it will be smooth. I don't believe in the lighter springs because you give up some reliability.
I have Redhawks in 41mag, 44 mag and 45 colt. I also have 2 629s, a 29 and a 58 and use all of them.

Out here in CA. asking prices are around $700 for a standard one like that without the scope. I had one I had no money in and traded it straight across for a 4" nickel Model 19-4 with a known mechanical issue that cost $130 to fix. Prices are probably less for the Redhawk outside CA.
