Default Refurbishing Colt grips. Lemon into lemonade.

I posted these wood grips recently here. I wondered if they were Herrett's but someone showed me identical shaped Jay Scott's. Someone had painted them white but since they had such a great shape I decided to bring them back to life though I hardly know how to do it. Paint was removed, grips sanded a little though already smooth, and ten light aplications of linseed oil with 6-12 hour intervals. I used 50 year old linseed oil because it's all I have laying around here. They fit my 1905 Officer's Model but not my Python (??). I have the original grips so these will just go in my grip box until I might need them. But they were perfect to practice on.

That's what I was thinking. At first I thought they were white plastic. Making two trips to the gun store I bought about seven pairs of grips from their parts box for $30. Included were some Fuzzy Farrants and a cut down pair of S&W coke grips. These are currently being cleaned up, rebordered, and recheckered since they feel fantastic in the hand, balancing perfect on my short Model 27.

They were gorgous K frame square butts I sold here in the classifieds. I'm left handed so sadly I couldn't use them.
