Oh no you didn't! (Cimarron/Uberti 1873 revolver)
This Christmas money Mom sent me was just burning a hole in my pocket. I managed to hold onto it for a week. I keep telling her "Mom, I'm 56 years old, DON'T SEND ME XMAS CHECKS!" but she does anyway.
I am waiting for the FFL transfer (NIB, shipping from Texas)
Reproduction Colt 1873 US Cavalry 45 Long Colt.
My 2nd revolver. (First being a S&W .357 mag) Should be a nice companion with my original Trapdoor rifle. Like the trapdoor, this one will be reloaded in black powder.

You will love it. Did you get the model with the 2 cylinders (.45LC/.45ACP) or the standard model?

+ 1 on you will love it! I have had several Uberti SAA's over the years,
I have had these two for over twenty years, each in .45LC, they were some of my regular carry from my farm days.

I have this strange fascination with Colt open top cartridge revolvers. Just can't seem to bring myself to buy one.
Funny, your story sounds similar to me only it's my MIL. Her and my FIL spoil the grand kids at Christmas and me and the wife get a nice check. When we tell them to stop we get "we're not going to wait till we're dead!".

While not a Colt or even a Uberti, my replica is a Pietta. It is well made and for the price I could not pass it up. I really like that mine came with the "stag-like grips" too.

I also purchased a Pietta SAA in .45 Colt over the summer. It
is blue with 4 3/4" bbl. The price of real Colt SAA's puts them
out of my price range. Haven't shot it yet.

Nice 6 shooters,,or 5 shooters,,
They make some pretty nice SAA clones and have done so for some years now.
I've used the cylinders from them in a few instances years back and fit them to real Colts for second caliber option. That;s when the real things weren't such untouchable collectibles.
I do have one of the Uberti/Cimmaron 1872 Open Top revolvers now. Had it for maybe 5 yrs and love it. 44spec cal.
Bought 2 at the time, one nickel in their '44Colt (44 Russian) and still NIB,,I resold that one and kept the slightly used c/c and blued 44sp.
A few bumps and bruises on it but I got it for a very good price. Nice shooter,,something a bit different.

^^^^what THEY said! My family worked like that. Why wait for a holiday? If you love someone, make a holiday!
IIRC, the modern open tops are chmbered for .38 Spl, or is there .44/.45 also? Happy new year!

Uberti lists them in 38 spl. and 45 LC. Cimarron arms has them also in 44 spl./Colt/Russian and if I'm not mistaken they are made by Uberti. That's the caliber I'd want. A proper revolver caliber! Besides, already reload 44 spl.

open tops ubertis
I have two of the 1871/72 open tops in .44 speical.(7 1/2 inch barrles) another 1851 open top in.38 special and one in .44 special.(both with 51/2 inch barrels) we have a plate rack down here in the south Houston area and I've run all six plates with all four guns many times. I really like them. I also have a 1873 in .38-40(5 1/2 in barrel) and it's a real sweetheart. they are all quite accurate.(yes, I shot cowboy with all of them at one time or another ), I also sho t the plate rack with a Smith model 544! it's in .44-40 with a 5 inch barrel. it's quite accurate too!

You won't believe the fun you are about to have. Nothing like having shot out the 10 ring and smoke coming out of the barrel.

Mine's a Flat Top Target in .45 Colt. You are gonna enjoy that smokewheel!
BTW, the cartridges have nothing to do with the revolver. They are, L. to R., 6.5 Benchrest Magnum, .30-30, .300 Benchrest Magnum.

The Italians make some damn fine reproductions, and I have a 1860 Army Pietta that I really like, but there is something about a Colt SAA.

Can't have too many single action revolvers,I even end up using most of my double action ones primarily as single actions! They just feel right!

I think they're both owned by Beretta now. Anyway, I have two from Uberti, too, one in 357 and one in 22 (this is their smaller frame 7/8 scale I think).
Anyone have one of their 12 shot 22s? I've almost bought one previously, and keep wondering. I' love to see a S&W N-frame in 22lr, say a 15 rounder!

Here are pictures of my Cimarron Uberti Model P. I wanted one in .45 Long Colt, but they didn't have any in that caliber. I had to settle for .45 Colt. Oh, well.

Love the 32 WCF. I have a 1st generation Colt and an Uberti in that caliber and can't shoot them enough. 4.5 grains of Unique with a 100 grain RNFP.
Also have the 44 SPL open top but have only shot it once. I have a number of 44 special revolvers and load 250 gn @ 950 fps. I loaded some down for the open top but I'm afraid I'll put some hot ones in it and stretch the frame, so I haven't shot it since. Thinking about selling it but shipping is such a PIA.

I've had several Uberti/Cimarron/Mitchell/Sauer copies. I had 2 Cimarron Artillery models that I used for SASS until I inherited some money and replaced them with "ivory handled Colts". The Colts have a little better steel and screws but, with care, the clones will do 95+% as well.

Well the gun hasn't arrived yet, but here's a picture from the auction:
I also won the auction for a 7-1/2" Cimarron Flat Top in .45 Colt, just today:

I have an older Ubirti "Thunderer" in 45 Colt and Love It! But for me, It rolls back in my grip after each shot, making follow up shot way to slow for SASS, even with reduced loads. But, it is fantastic accurate with Winchester STHP factory ammo!

Here are some pictures of my Pietta .45 Colt SAA I purchased
this past fall. Nice fit and finish, and the price was reasonable.
I look forward to shooting it. BTW, it has Azoom snap caps in
the cylinder.

Back in the early 90's I bought an EMF Hartford in .45 Colt. I also had an early Colt SAA with 5 1/2" bbl, but as I was working on a collection of early Winchesters at the time, I ended up trading them both off for something else before ever shooting either one. I have always regretted getting rid of them, but the same goes for every other one I've ever had.
I put a nice pair of stags on the EMF. Overall, it's quality/fit/finish seemed pretty darned good, especially for the money. Never got a picture of the Colt.

Initially my intentions are smokeless but inevitably I will reload for black powder cartridge for this pistol as I do for my 2 rifles in BP (Springfield Trapdoor 1873 in 45-70 and Winchester 94 in 38-55).
Personally I carry a plastic milk jug with warm water and a squirt of Dawn dish soap to the range with my BPCR's . (it's hot when I leave the house)
Each case goes immediately into the jug to begin working those corrosive salts out of the inside of the case.
Upon returning home they go into an ultrasonic cleaner, then oven dried, deprimed and the corn-media tumbler.
This keeps the brass "Healthy" but the nice shiny brass look is gone after shooting BP. I suppose a steel pin wet tumbler would correct that but I sort of like the "case colored" look of the brass.

Come on folks...this is a Smith board. I have had both Colts and Rugers. Loved to shoot both types. I just had to have the model 1875 Scholfield and bought a Uberti Scholfield. A truly mechanical marvel in craftmanship.
In .45 long colt, it is a dream. Have a great new year.

I have a pair of the Ubirti copies of N0.3 Russian revolvers in 44 Russian. That should be S&W enough for you.

Uberti
SportsDad60 - Thank you for the idea of the Milk Jug
Hot Water Dawn Soap for cleaning spent Black Powder cartridges.
I will remember that if I ever start shooting Black Powder.
Congratulations on your new purchase of that Uberti

Thank you for posting a nice picture too.
Here's my special circa 2003 Uberti Bisley Model 44 Special
