New To Me SP101 .22 LR Snub-Questions??
I just p/u an SP101 snub in .22 LR (1991 vintage) for my 46/yo daughter. It's in pristine condition w/box and all the factory paperwork. Does anyone know anything about these? I've never owned one and she will be using it to pass her ccw class, then carry it from time to time. No caliber war stuff pls., she just cannot handle anything bigger and this is better than nothing. Thanks in advance.

Anything "specific" you would like to know?
The Ruger SP101 series in any caliber are fine guns, built like tanks and they are excellent guns. They are so well built some find tha a but on the heavy side. They are simple guns to completely take apart and can be done so without any tools (maybe a screw driver for the grip screws)
If it's not a a Smith then Ruger is the one to get!

SP-101's are great revolvers. I carry a .357 SP-101 for work, have no complaints. All my SP's have Hogue monogrips in place of the factory grip, and I suspect even a .22 SP would benefit from the Hogue. The older 6 shot .22 SP's are nice guns, I've been looking for one for a while at a reasonable price. I had one of the new 8 shot .22 SP's for a while, but it had a miserable trigger, so I sold it.

This afternoon, my son and I did a little shooting off the back deck. I was shooting my recent to me 28-2, checking loads, etc and he was shooting his sp101. We swapped guns some, etc and ran about 35-45 rounds down range. I love his sp101 in 357, This afternoon, all shooting was will full house 357 loads. For a carry gun, I do not think you can beat the sp101. His 357 is very accurate and well balanced, and not very big in size. We are both in agreement, the Ruger GP100 is one of the most ugly guns on the market. Not so with the SP101 guns. We looked at the photo of the new Colt Cobra being introduced at the Shot show, I think they will capture the title of most ugly hand gun away from the GP100 next year.
