Default Exciting Revolver Times

With the recent announcement by Colt of their return to the revolver market and Kimber's entry it looks like some rather intriguing choices will be coming. It's notable that both of these are 6 shot compact revolvers. There is even talk of the possible return of the Python.
I am looking forward to see how these revolvers fair and what impact it will have on S&W product development, possibly a value line new version of the 6 shot model 12?

I believe the Colt will be 38+P while the Kimber is 357 magnum.
The Colt will possibly hit the LGS in January for around $800. The Kimbers are priced around $900. By seeing a possible pic of the new Colt I would say the Kimber looks more appealing but that's just IMO.

I didn't care for looks of the Colt New Agent semi auto. The finish just looked done as cheap as it could be done. I hope this new revolver gets a quality looking finish.

It will be interesting to see how much quality Colt puts into this revolver. I am very surprised since a big wig for Colt said they wouldn't be getting back into the revolver. HMMM Maybe new management figured they needed get into the growing concealed revolver market.

And just maybe the new "Colt" revolver will be made for them by
someone else and simply be a Colt in name only.

I'm really sad that colt has chosen to make the dick special, only in stainless, and then keeping it 38 spec +P

It seems to me that the revolver market should be lead by colt and S&W, but instead they are falling back on old cookie cutter designs. Limiting their guns to predominately stainless and 3 or 4 calibers tops.

While ruger has been charging ahead by expanding their lineups, adding more calibers, and keeping blued models in their catalogs. And unlike Colt, ruger continues to produce and expand their single action lineup too.

I had hoped that when Colt came back to the revolver market, that they would have brought something new, something more like the Kimber. Because right now, if I wanted a new dick special, I can just go get a rock island M206 and pay a lot less for the same thing.

Colt may be just testing the waters with their new Cobra. No one knows just yet exactly what else they might have in store. And rather than referring to the design as "cookie cutter", it's more like a "tried and true" design. And really, other than appearance, there aren't a whole lot of variations available in revolver design.

Don't see offering a revolver in three or four calibers tops is limiting. When all's said and done, how many different calibers does anyone really need in a revolver. Even when they were in full production mode, Colt revolvers were never aimed at handgun hunters...I don't believe they ever contemplated making anything like a .454 Casull revolver or a .460 or whatever. They were always aimed more at law enforcement and self defense.

The self defense pistol and revolver market is huge right now. Colt is coming back to claim its share of that market. I wish them lots of success.
