Default The BBBG (Big Bore Belly Gun) Club.

Seeing Moosedog's Merwin Hulbert .44-40 inspired me to start a new thread. The criteria is that they are revolvers w/ a barrel length of less than 4 inches in a caliber that begins in the number 4...... Post 'em if you got 'em!!

I'll start.

Webley Metropolitan Police from the New South Wales Australia Police in .450:

Best,
Charles

And the bottom one here, 1917, 45 ACP, chopped to 3 1/2",

Default A 3rd model HE that went to a store in Houston for the

................HPD. Was later sent back to the factory for unknown mods. Barrel 3 & 1/2, unusual grip adapter that allow SAA style grips, a refinish and has a name on the right sideplate. Mated up with an unusual chunk of leather.

Shoots great! My favorite .44 Special.

Would love to set down and visit with the fellow who carried it.

Being that it's not pointed at me, that pic makes me chuckle. That has to be a hoot to shoot!

Default How about a couple of three inch model 29s.

The one with the rubber grips shoots well. The one with the Ahrends is pretty uncomfortable to shoot with full house rounds.

Here's Moosedog's Merwin & Hulbert 44/40 pocket Army DA after a soaking in Ed's Red and some polishing with bronze wool and the Flitz, it looks like a nice gun again. I loaded up some BP rounds and will have to shoot it soon. I think it needs a lanyard attached too.

2 1/2" 629 no dash. Action job, ported, chopped on both ends. I am guessing Magnaport did the work. It is super smooth and right handy with 1100fps 250gr SWC. The red insert went flying, and I replaced it with yellow. Really like that color in an insert.

Chopped down 4 digit Triple lock. Converted to 45acp.

No pics, but just added a Charter Arms Backpacker 2.5" bbl in 44spl. The guy gave me the box after I bought it, and lo and behold, it is a Lew Horton Spl. And only 50 made. How long will I have to wait for this one to be a collector's item.
Ah, pics of the charter arms 44

Way up in post #3 I said I only had two. Forgot one (I know - how do you forget a gun?)

Anywho, lying right there in the front middle of the Pile-O-Guns is a Cimarron Thunderer, 3 1/2" barrel, 45 Colt.

Here's an ugly 629 "Trail Boss" I polished, frosted the cylinder indents, added a laser American Eagle and Flag and some beautiful Culina Combats. I had fun doing this.

I guess it would depend, at least in part, to the size of your belly!

This is an old thread, but what the heck. How 'bout some old school. Here is a .455 Hand Ejector cut down and converted to .45 Colt:

And here is a commercial 1917 cut down to 4". I bet at one time this was some Copper's pride and joy:

This recently joined my stable. It is a 25-2 (45acp) shipped in Oct. 1974. The conversion is probably an early Behlert as he started doing these in 1972, and the gun appears to be finished in Behlert's preferred hard chrome and the stocks are typical of what he used. Barrel is 2.7". A lock to replace the one from the ejector rod, has been added to the crane. The trigger is smooth and the hammer rounded.
Shown with a mid 1950' Italian stiletto.
