Charter Arms 9mm Revolver
79920 9 mm Pitbull Rimless Revolver | Charter Arms
I know it's not a Smith and Wesson but this forum probably had the most expertise on revolvers than anywhere else. So I thought I would ask, has anyone had any experience with one of these?
I like the idea of a 9mm revolver but was never a fan of moon clips.

I had a Ruger 9mm with moon clips for awhile, the reload was quick enough, the issue was filling the clips. and get the brass out of the clips. I didn't like the felt recoil, keep hitting the knuckle of the trigger finger. there was a lot of plastic in the revlevor. It was hanging out in the safe and I wasn't shooting it so it got sold at a gun show for what I paid for it.

I had one for awhile and liked it a lot. First off, it does not use moon clips. Charter arms has developed a unique cylinder star ejection system and it works like a dream. The bullet is fully inserted into the cylinder and clicks in, as a tab from the spring loaded center star snaps into place, between the rim and the casing body. The same happens when you eject, those tabs snap into place, grabbing the cases and pulls them out.
The only reason I don't still have it, is I sold it to help pay for a Charter Arms Pitbull in .45acp, which work the same way as the 9mm

I do not think the Charter Arms actually uses Moon Clips for any of it's semi auto cartridge revolvers.
It ha s a different system which was actually developed/used by SW many years ago.
There are many reviews on the Charters and they can be finicky about loading, unloading, firing etc.
I have always wanted their 44 Special but just can not deal with the fit and finish of their guns.
You either like them or you don't.
Other than that, I shall say no more about Charter Arms .

I had a C.A. Pitbull in .40 S&W. It went back to service twice. C.S. was very nice & professional. Finally they sent me a new gun. The barrel was canted. Sent it back, fixed, and all was well. Ended up selling it at around a $140 loss from original purchase price. Just because I think something is cool, doesn't make it right. Bob

I own a Charter 44 Spl Bulldog and it's been a decent revolver. Nothing fancy about it, just a working man’s gun. If you are going to get the 9mm Pitbull on the used market you should know that there are two versions. The earlier one’s were 6 shot revolvers and the current one’s are 5 shot. Apparently the 6 shot versions had extraction issues. And as noted by others above they do not need moonclips.

A good friend was selling a early 6shot. I tried it out and the loading and extracting was a pain! Many hang ups and each round had to be seated. I passed on it. I just bought a 44 BULLDOG and love it!
Did I mention I love moon clips!
