Remington RP9, what do you think
well I have seen the new Remington polymer 9 and I am not impressed
looks like they took a bunch of polymer 9mms and threw them in a mixer
I own Glock, Ruger, Steyr, and Cannick's, and I don't think I see anything in the new Remington gun that would get me to add it to my rotation
what say you?

Looked at it and didn't like the looks of it. Waiting for the CZ P10C.

If I were going to get another large polymer handgun it would be a CZ P09. The Remington is just too late in and their track record the last decade or so is not good.

That's an understatement! I'd buy a taurus handgun before I'd buy a remington handgun.
My current polymer handgun of choice is the Walther PPQ. I'm a CZ guy and carry a P01, but the Walther is what a polymer gun should be in all the right places--trigger and ergonomics.

My LGS owner had just put the new Remington Plastic Fantastic in his display case last Monday when I walked in. He says "Hey, you want to see a ****** new gun?" I have to agree with his assessment, the RP9 is large, has relatively poor ergonomics and really looks like a High Point mated with a Glock. The pistol looks glaringly out of place in the case with the new Ruger American, S&W M&P, Glock, Springfield XD, and so forth. Plus its well over $400
Remington should stick to rifles, shotguns and maybe the RM380.

We live in the golden age of handguns. Everything from Turkesh clones of Czech guns to South Korean adaptations of S&Ws.

My local area has a great many Volunteer Fire Departments and Sportsmen's Clubs which hold Gun Bash events. Seems like the local gun shops who do these events are putting RP 9s on every last gun bash ticket. Why? well none of them can sell the two or three they have in stock! Of course, those who win the RP 9 pistol will likely trade it back to the shop. I foresee used, as new RP 9s this summer for $350.

Have no interest. Too many other already proven guns out there.

For what is all ready out there, Remington is not a name I think of when it comes to pistols. Maybe shotguns, maybe bolt action rifles, but I'd still probably go with a Mossberg or Savage.

More proof for my theory that makers have been in an arms race to see who can produce the clunkiest pistol.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I bought one of these RP9's and just came back from the range. I thought I'd share my impressions of it.
First, they aren't over $400 anymore. Davidson's has been marking them down. I got mine for $299, plus Remington is offering a $50 rebate. If the price was higher, I would have passed.
At the range, I liked the single action trigger. It's kind of like the Canik TP9SA. It was accurate and easy to shoot one handed. Felt recoil is pretty mild. The 3 dot sights are easy to pick up. The 2 18rd mags have stiff springs, hopefully they'll loosen up with use.
I only had one failure to feed with WWB. It was quick to clear and go on. I was shooting 5rd drill, then 10rd drills, the jam came when I was doing the 10rd drills. It was the only one. I shot WWB and Fed aluminum, all 115gr and FMJ. I shot about 150 rounds.
I have to agree, it's not a beauty. I got the impression that Remington hired designers from Hi Point.
I'm hoping that it continues to function well. At least it's from an American company, hopefully if I ever need parts or service, I won't have to worry about parts availability coming from overseas. I'll still grab my SD9 if I need it, but this isn't a bad range toy.

Yours runs better than most I've seen on YouTube. They were jam-o-matics.

Hmmmmm a firearms manufacturer with a reputation over the past decade of producing spotty work, now producing an inexpensive polymer wonder built to a price point and trying to compete in a market segment where people want a pistol without spending any real money...what could go wrong?
No thanks boss, not for me. Happy to own a half-dozen Remington products built 20+ years ago, and one newer one out of their custom shop (M24). However I am done spending my money on new "big green" products.
