Saw a really nice consignment piece on sale at a local gun shop. It was a 1958 vintage Ruger Single Six, blued, 5 1/2 inch barrel, .22 LR, fixed sights, in extremely nice condition with new walnut Ruger stocks. The seller was asking $425, but the gun had been returned to Ruger by the gun shop to replace the cylinder rod release button prior to sale, and came back well cleaned but with the transfer bar conversion, a Ruger requirement. When I saw it, the gun had been sold for the original $425 but the buyer walked when he noticed the conversion and the sale fell through, back in the glass case it went. I told the shop staff that I would be willing to part with $350 for it and to see if a deal could be made...two days later, I got a call from the shop and the seller had agreed. When I went in today to pay and fill out various paperwork, they produced a shipping box from Ruger with all the original parts in it to re-convert this old model back to factory specifications, including the framing around the trigger and walnut stocks. I am a happy camper!
