Son's 10/22 "liberty trainer"
I liked the concept and he likes classic stuff so with a little bit of work put this together for him.

Match trigger, Williams rear sight, Pachmayr recoil pad, USGI style leather sling. The rear sight ain't pretty, but it's a solid unit.
I need to pick up some 15rd magazines to round it out.

The 10-22 is an all around great gun, nice job. What kind of groups does it shoot with the peep sight on it? Larry

Shooting kneeling I had shots touching at fifteen yards and and about 3/4" at 25. It's shooting almost 5" high with the rear sight bottomed so he'll have to wait until I get a taller front sight in to try it out. He hates using hold overs or Kentucky windage. Spoiled.

Nice. A very useful learning tool.
For those wanting to make a peep sighted training rifle a bit more fun, check out this 10-22 conversion kit to make a pseudo M1 Carbine from E. Arthur Brown. Has stock and sight options. They also have other accessories like a sling and a reproduction M1 Carbine canvas carry case.

Ruger has a ready made version as well.
Ruger® 10/22® Carbine Autoloading Rifle Model 21102
Mine cost half as much, has a better trigger, rear sight, and butt pad. It's not quite as pretty.
Ruger has a taller front sight, and it should be rectified shortly.

Nice outfit. Back when my eyes worked I loved aperture sights. Had one on my Marlin 39A squirrel rifle for years.

Nice job on the rifle, nice to see a real sling on a wood/steel rifle with iron sights. My dad taught me to shoot back in the early 60's, I remember that afternoon and still have that 22 rifle. Great memories being made there for both of you. Well done on both accounts.

The kid has eclectic tastes in guns. He likes very traditional and vintage stuff and ultra modern sporting rifles as well.
We'll be out trying it again shortly.
