Default Any Glock 17Longslide fans?

Yes I own a few Glocks and use them frequently my latest purchase was the 17L pretty nice I wanted one last year but got the 34 instead. Hard to come by so I jumped on one from Buds great experience with them btw my first transfer from them flawless. 6.02" barrel and I iwb it no problem. Just wondered if any other longslide owners on hear and there thoughts on the gun.

I love my 17L. It points like a revolver for me. If I raise my pistol with my eyes closed, the sights will be aligned when I open them. It's my only Glock and, while it took it lot of dry-firing to master the trigger, is very easy to shoot. I prefer longer barrels unless there is a real good reason to go shorter. Mine is an early Gen 1. I put some tiny strips of skateboard tape on the back of the lower grip which helps lock the gun into my hand. I also have replaced the original ported barrel with a factory non-ported version, as recoil isn't an issue with a six-inch barrel and I prefer not to have sights blackened by the exhaust. The late Stephen A. Camp has two articles on his website "High-Powers and Handgun" about the 17L. I recommend his writings.

Yes, I have one. The wife shoots it mostly. I really like the trigger on it and the sight radius. Makes shooting accurately a breeze. Didn't know that the Gen 1s were ported barrels. I'd like to see a picture of that.

I would be a fan if I could afford one... The last 17L I saw for sale in my area had an $800 price tag on it used. Is there much of a difference between the 17L and the 34 other than availability? Either gun is on my want list.

17L is about 3/4 of an inch longer

34 = 8.15
17L = 8.85

my 3rd gen is right at home with my wheel guns and has a home as long as I am alive

it has seen a few thousand rounds in its life and is still a very competitive gun in the open classes

tis photo will give some visual difference the other glock is a 35 same as the 34 only in 40cal.

and at times it has even served in carbine form

Don't have one........yet! If I didn't have a G35 plus a 40-9 conversion barrel and Glock made them more often I'd probably have one. One of the guys at work has one I believe he's only shot once or twice. Keep meaning to try and trade him out of it but haven't yet. Maybe it's time?

Just barrel length the 17 vs 17L is an 1.5" if I'm remembering correct the difference between the length of the 34vs17L escapes me. I believe the 34 was designed because in ipda competition the 17L was not a legal gun due to length.

I put Trijicon HD'S on mine as with all my glocks and it is a excellent shooter for sure glad to get my hands on one. Prices seems to go all over the place.I paid more than I wanted but not what many have seen them on the high end.

I want one bad. My only plastic gun is my glock 26 and I have grown to love it, but I have a strange attraction to the 17L, and I should be able to snag one under the blue label program. I am thinking of doing it in march of this year.

I've got a long slide but it's not a 17L. I've got a G40 10mm with a Lone Wolf barrel. I really appreciate the adjustable rear sight since I handload a variety of loads for this gun. Added a fiber optic front sight but I might end up going back to just the white dot. A Vortex Venom red dot is on my short list for this pistol.

I got one at Christmas. I saw one in the local store and for $595, I brought it home. I'm excited to shoot it at the GSSF indoor match in a couple of weeks.

Wanted one but never sprang for it. I have three 19s, one sporting an Advantage Arms 22 conversion.

Edited to ad: Here's my three 19s. The one on the bottom sports the Advantage Arms 22 conversion, the one on the right side has Trijicon sights.

G17 has a 4.6" barrel. G17L is the same frame with a 6" barrel (ported on some early models), matching slide and a lower trigger pull (at least on early models, I don't know about current ones). The early 17Ls also had a partially adjustable sight that extended a bit past the rear of the slide. The Glock 17L was introduced into America in around 1989. Mine is one of the first thousand.

Yeah, they come with the "-" connector. All of the internals looked polished. I've never seen this before, but they are super shiny.

What does the 17L retail for when Glock does another run? I've seen $800 and $595 mentioned in this thread. My coworker is thinking about letting his go. He's had it about two years, bought new and has less than 100 reds through it. Was thinking I'd offer him something between $600-$700. I know these must go for more than a standard G17 which seem to retail for the Mid to high $500 range around here

Years ago when I lived behind the Golden Curtain I found a used Gen 1 17L with both barrels, the original Tupperware box, and a complete G17 upper in a shop for $550. I jumped on it due to its rarity in CA. I didn't shoot it much and sold it off years later. I much prefer the Gen 2 or 4 G19's.

Grand total for mine was $710. Gun,shipping,transfer, a tad high in my opinion but I got it quick and didn't feel like waiting the price jumped $38 in approximately a week so I jumped. If you can get one for $590 I'd be all over that fast. There out there but good luck. I'd keep pressing your co-worker a gun in lightly used condition with all the original stuff I'd feel comfortable paying near brand new prices if you want it bad enough.

Got one back about '95; used it for several courses (NRA instructor course, Chapman Academy, etc) and haven't shot it since about '96 when I got into a Sig P226. The Glock is a good gun, but the Sigs just feel better to me.
