I need to keep up with current prices...
I think I insulted a LGS owner yesterday..
I was in the shop to pick up a consignment gun that had laid on his shelf for a couple of months when I noticed one of those "re-arsenalled" Russian Nagant revolvers that have been coming into the country in the past few years. I asked him what he wanted for it and his answer was "What will you give me?"
I honestly wasn't trying to be a wise acre when I offered $100.
He was a little huffy when he told me they were selling for around $300 on GB. I had to come home and look them up, and it looks like he was right..... (I sure don't want one that bad....)

If I recall, I paid around $180 for the one I had a few years ago. It was a neat little revolver, but by no means worth more than that. If it shot straight and the ammo was easier to find I probably would have kept it longer.

They were very cheap for many years after being imported, and had a price spike about 2-3 (?) years ago. They seem to have come down somewhat from those price peaks.
I shot one a few years ago with a .32 ACP cylinder, decently accurate and an 80 pound DA trigger pull .

That is when you need to tell him that if he wants $300 then he should go through the process selling it on GB.
This is a recent trend now with LGS. They price everything how they see it on an auction site. That is not a good basis for fair price, not to mention all the cost and hassle in order to sell online.
If buying local, I would expect to pay a considerable % less than GB prices. The internet has ruined a lot of things and this is another we have to deal with.

Unfortunately where I'm at, there are very few gun stores. And the biggest one in town prices all their used guns off Gun Broker. SO I used another ffl who is outside of town. I buy off GB and have it sent to him. He makes his money by running the gun across his bound book. I am sure this way his margin is quite nice. And I don't pay local tax because it's a "transfer". That usually covers the cost of shipping.

My best friend is a mil-surp collector. About 10-12 years ago he gave me a Nagant revolver with holster, lanyard and tool kit for Christmas. (Bought himself one too). The going price then was about $75 for the whole set.
Ammo was hard to find and expensive. So for $25, I bought a .32acp cylinder for it. BTW: Nagant ammo is much easier to find these days.
When I take it to the range it always draws attention. I'm happy to let people try it because I get a good laugh with the looks on their faces when they try that 20 lb trigger pull.
These days we go to gun shows and see just the revolver with no accessories priced at around $260. We just shake our heads and grin.

20 lb trigger pull?? You must have gotten one of the rare target models.
I had a couple of these years ago and I think the DA triggers were at least 30+ lbs...

deadin, you might be right. That 20 lb figure was just a guesstimate. Trigger pull gauges don't read anywhere near high enough for a Nagant.
