My very first Sig P210 ( a P210-2 as you can see) arrived in the mail today. After handling it I'm beginning to see what all the fuss is about. I don't think I've ever held a gun that felt as natural or comfortable in my hand and the fit and finish is pretty outstanding for a service gun. The grips are numbered sequentially and are dated 2/63. From what I've read it's a tough gun to date from the serial number (157xxx in this case) but the grips can provide a clue.

I can't wait to get it to the range!

Congrats on the Sig! I have one just like it. They are great shooters. The one thing to watch out for is getting the web of your hand bitten by the hammer. I guess that's why they put the whale's tail on the current production.

These pistols are slick as glass and fit like the proverbial Swill watch.

Congratulations, I know you will enjoy owning yours. My P210 is ANIB and dates to about 1952, but dang, it's a safe queen. It has the finest fit of any gun I own. Its been said here before that the slide operates like its on ball bearings.

The 210 can be a biter if you hold a very high grip. Fortunately, if you do have that problem, Roland down at Roco in Texas can drill and tap your frame for a bolt-on beavertail, which may sound a little revolting, but it doesn't look all that bad and it does fix the problem nicely. He will also take care to precisely locate that hole so you can use a 210-5 trigger, if you ever want to do so some day.

Anyway, good luck with your new 210! Hope it doesn't turn out to be a biter for you.

The US made version of the 210 was announced at the recent Shot Show. Only time will tell if we can do as well as the Germans with the fitting of this iconic pistol.

Congrats. I've owned couple -2s and -6 myself. Fine pistols, and about as good as pistols get IMHO. My only gripe was that the hammer bit me badly, and I always struggled with the bottom mag release. The hammer doesn't bite everybody though and perhaps you'll be unaffected. If it does bite you, a couple of Band-Aids on the web of the shooting hand minimize bloodshed.

I have some BHP's that are known as biters. I have had no issues with them so hopefully I'll be OK

I have two Swiss P210s as shooters; a P210-4 and a -6. Both are extremely well made with tight tolerances and great triggers. Both guns are very accurate and I expect yours to be not different.

The difference in the sport trigger from the service triggers is in the weight of the trigger spring (part # 31), the trigger bar (# 26), and the hammer unit housing. They use different trigger blades, trigger stir ups (#23) and the hammer housing has a threaded hole to fix it to the frame.


Changing trigger and hammer assemblies in between sports and service guns is a pretty complicated thing in a SIG P210 and parts availability is very limited. Changing the trigger return spring isn't difficult, though.

While I have no problem with the standard mag release, I have a high grip that I got used to in action shooting events and have installed spare hammers with slightly shortened spurs.



I also have a different mag release in my P210-6.


My P210-6 has a P prefix, making it a privately owned gun, the 210-4 is from the 0001 to 5000 run of guns and numbered in the 4xxx.

Nice pistol sailor723. I'm a fan of the 210. Great pistols. I have two swiss guns and am looking forward to checking out the new US made ones.

I also have a Swiss Luger that I'm quite fond of as well.

Now if I could just score a SIG AMT or PE57 I would be a happy guy.

The P210 is one of my favorites and those early forged models are the way to go. I've got a couple forged models and a few later machined models. They are all incredible shooters.

the one I like the most is this entire kit from 1967, complete with the rimfire upper assembly and matching 30 Luger barrel. Its even got the rare fully checkered grips, which are offered as an option for a very short time.

I can see why it is your favorite. I like the .30 Luger cartridge and would love to have one in a 210.

my 210-4, one from a special run for Distributor Frankonia from 1995 - they ordered 500 210-4 from #D6001 to #D6500 to be made as a collectors follow up from the original 1952 batch for the Western German Border Patrol ranging from #D0001 to #D6000. I'm not a collector, so I put it to good use, and you can see no wear. Feels and shoots as if built by a swiss watchmaker...

I bit the bullet and grabbed a spare mag off Gunbroker for this Sig. Jeez! I've bought guns for less!!

I accumulated a little over a dozen spare mags for the two P210s and a couple of complete hammer units, extractors, firing pins, and recoil rods. I think I sunk more money into the mags and parts than another P210 would cost me.

The Swiss P210 mags and spare parts have become very expensive but the mags, or any other part, almost never wears out.

Jeez! I feel like I walked over to that group of guys drinking wine in the corner of the party...After listening (and looking), I silently sneak away, and make my way back to the beer-drinking Colt guys!

Because of the metric system?

These don't seem to shoot any better than a Beretta M-92FS or a CZ-75B. But they're nicely made guns, and they sure don't shoot any worse. They're good enough to hit a man to at least a 100 yards and to take small game at reasonable ranges.


The better .357 revolvers shoot as well and hit harder.


But the P-210 still has its appeal, and I'd buy one or two if I could.

Yeah, they aren't cheap, especially the early non-zippered variety.

Well, OK. If you want real fun, try finding and buying a 22 cal mag. You can buy a few of the 9mm mags for the same amount.

I got lucky about 15 years ago and stumbled on a -7 gun, still new in its box. Even better was the pair, as in 2, of 22 cal mags with it. But worse is that I haven't fired it in all this time. I just put the 22 cal kit on my -2 and use its mag. Its a darn good 22 auto. I've considered installing the extra set of adjustable sights on the 22 cal slide, but I don't have a sight pusher to do it. Still better was once I saw a beat to death -7 gun at the gun show. The seller didn't have the box, or the 2nd mag, but he wanted $4995 for it. I'm sitting on a nice profit if I do something stupid.

I ordered these from a website called grips4u.net. It's my first experience with them but I have to say I am very pleased with the quality and the fit. Unfortunately, while they have a pretty wide selection it appears to be mostly for pistols rather than revolvers.

Has the OP seen the extended target grips? Simmonds of Chicago used to sell them. I found a set at a gun store! and of course they're salted away where no one can get their grubby hands on them.

No I haven't. Are they the thumb rest type? Unfortunately I'm a lefty so a lot of target grips shaped for the right hand won't work for me.
