Thanks, everyone. I removed this because I got the answers I needed and didn't want to leave pictures of someone else's gun on here any longer. Your expertise is much appreciated.

No. Overpriced and has been modified so ZERO collector value.

I have a WW2 vintage 1911 equipped with the exact same set of sights. I love it because I can see to shoot it, but I have to tell you, that micro rear sight is a bugger when you rack the slide. It is full of sharp corners.
As an aside it is the same sight used on (I think) the 1963 NM builds. Mine is no way one of those BTW...It was someones target pistol long ago.

I think I would be tempted. Yeah, the sights are obviously replacements, and it looks like the US Property mark has been removed, but that is why it's not 3 grand.
Those big "buts" aside, its a nice WWI era 1911 that probably hasn't been refinished. The stocks are nice.
I'd try to lowball them and see what happens.

Appears to have a "C" prefix meaning commercial model, if so it is 1917 vintage. I think that is a little high with mods but if you like it make a low offer, if the slide is not buggered up original sights should go right back on.

I noticed you're in N. California as I am. If you can find one like that for less than $1000 you'd better grab it. The old 1911s that I've seen in this area are going for a grand or higher. During the 50s and 60s the military and many gunsmiths in the area were building match guns from service and older commercial 1911s. It was common place for them to use micro or bo-mar rear sights. By the way, I believe I recognize the store tag, I think they're located in Granite Bay. If the gun is tight, has a good trigger and has a barrel bushing mated to the barrel then I'd say it's worth the asking price. If it's there on consignment, ask what's the least the owner is willing to take. If it's in the shop I think it is, it probably won't be there too long.

Those sights would kill the deal for me; better for shooting but just don't "go" with a 1911 military or commercial. If you think you could replace the sights, before buying check to see that Bubba didn't drill holes in the slide to stake the front sight. Often that was the solution when "improving" on the original Colt sights. For $1000 I'd be looking for a nice Series 70. Good luck.
