Which knife in your opinion is the best knife and why? Oh that spot on the blade of the K-Bar is a shadow.

I like my buck 119 good steel that holds a edge a very long time great all around knife for hunting I've had mine for 40 plus years

Close call. I'd take the Buck because I like the steel better. Which one feels better in your hand when you use it?

I also have to lean towards the Buck because I simply like the profile of the blade more.

K-Bar. Just like the look of it and the history behind their knives. Here is a WWII USN MKII K-Bar I picked up at an auction last year. Had been looking for one for several years and finally found it.

(I also have a newer USMC K-Bar shorter knife)

For me the knives would be a toss up. I really prefer the Buck sheath though. It rides higher on the belt, is sturdier and I don't like the look of the rivets on the K-bar.

The Buck. Partially because I've always been a Buck fan, but also because the blade profile and steel are more "knife like" in what a knife should be for knife duties. If on the other hand, you're more likely to be prying open cases of ammo, popping nails out of crates and using it to dig a fox hole, then the KaBar wins......it's a tool.

Check out "Savage Made Sheaths"...... he in VA. I've got 3 or 4 now .

I like the Ka-bar combat knives, but for sportsman's models Buck gets my vote every time. I think Bucks are a lot of knife for the money.

For what it's worth, that model ka-bar (and most of their sportsman's models) are made in Taiwan, the Buck 119 is made is USA.

That alone sways me towards the Buck.

I'd go with the 119

Much though I like Buck knives, and I have my share, I'd prefer the KaBar. I like the profile of the blade better; the point is a lot less liable to break than the Buck.

Ka-bar makes a nice scaled down version of its famous combat knife that is a much handier size.

Better yet they make several variations of the USN MKI sheath knife that is a very nice handy knife.

The above are made in USA.

Both are a little large for my taste. I like the original Buck 118 and 102. The Air Force pilot's survival knife is a good one too, but the Bucks handle better for me.

Oh well, what the hell.

Everyone needs a Zombie knife; like the K-bar's "Extreme Fighting Knife" ...... but I have to agree^^^^ the MK I and 5" k-bar have been my everyday utility knives for at least 15 years. Inexpensive enough that I can stash one in each vehicle emergency kit.

I switched to the MkI as it's less tacticacooool.

But I wish they came with better leather sheaths ..... though the nylon (?) ones are GTG!

I prefer the Buck 119, for my purposes. I also prefer the aesthetics of it and it's refined tip and blade profile. Again, for MY purposes - fishing hunting. Not 'extreme' survival and/or combat purposes - battoning, digging, prying, etc. If this is in the intended task-list for the knife, one would be better suited with the Kbar.
