Picked up a 1911 in .38 Super (photo is a 45) hard chrome. Took it to the range and in shoots great, good trigger, very accurate. Needs a new magazine catch though. The current one doesn't hold the mags high enough and I was getting some FTFeeds. If I rested the butt of the gun on a sandbag it ran 100%. Calling Eagle imports Monday to get a replacement. Very nice gun for the $$. Wish Ruger made one in .38 Super.
Never shot a .38 Super. It does get me to thinking if it is worth doing. Have a Sig 1911, a S&W 1911 (both 45 ACP) Have a RIA Tactical 9, and a RIA Tactical II in 40 S&W. It is my only commander. Like shooting the .40. Bob
You can convert any 1911/clone .45 to .38 Super. You need a 9mm slide, a .38 Super barrel, an ejector, and a .38 Super magazine. Get a 9mm barrel and magazine, and you have a 3-caliber 1911. I have a Springfield Armory 9mm slide on my Colt frame, it fit perfectly, use it for both 9mm and .38 Super.
