Default Question on new SIG extractor

I have a new SIG P220r with the small external extractor.

With a loaded chamber, the extractor stands out from the slide. My P225a1 doest do this, though I've seen photos of other P220s with a similar 'bulge'.

Can anyone with a new model SIG P220 confirm that the extractor does this? Thanks.

Not an expert on the newer P220 extractors but I am 100% sure Sig will tell you its normal. IIRC it has to do with the pivot point of the shorter extractor. I would call them and send them the pic. Does the gun run?

thanks for your opinion. I haven't run it yet, just chambered a round to make sure it feeds.

I never noticed the extractor did this until I saw your pic. I chambered some dummy rounds in my newest one and it does the same thing. I can confirm that mine functions 100%. Shouldn't be a problem.

That is what I suspected. I believe that on some guns it is more pronounced than others but if it runs don't worry about the cosmetics IMHO.

Probably intentional as a visual and tactile indication of a loaded chamber.
