It's nowhere near as pretty or pricey as most in this thread, but this is my bargain basement 1911, a Tisas Zig M 1911. got it for $300 out the door, and it shoots well for me

Hello, anyone remember ISPC, the big one is my old race gun, from the mid 1980 the small one, a carry-that is ported, both built by Bob Cogan when APW was in Clearwater, fl.

A blued Government Model with classic stags, nestled in what's probably a vintage floral carved holster...what more could any 1911 fancier want? I mean, other than more photos of it.

I've posted a pic of my 1911s before, but this is one of my favorites. My wife gave it to me a couple years ago, presentation grade Colt with ivory. I'm not a photographer. Haven't fired it yet, haven't even pulled the slide back. I'd like to, but its already got enough scratches on it.

Maybe when I retire I'll take it out to the range.

Three of my old Springfields:

Two of my 1914 Gov't Models, both suffered under the files of customizers. Trying to bring them back to correct as much as possible:

One of my old S70's. Not original when I got it so I turned it into a "Wild Bunch" pistol with some old parts I had laying around:

I'll admit that I shoot my HK P30 and my S&W revolvers better but i currently have a Springfield Armory TRP 1911 that i am currently trying to negotiate with a friend for either his Wilson Combat Beretta 92 Brigadier Tactical or S&W Model 325 Thunder Ranch.

My 1911's. Crummy pictures. Nothing fancy, but they are my favorite autos. Bob
Top left, is Sig. Top right, RIA Tactical 1, 9mm. Bottom left is a RIA Tactical 2, in .40S&W. Last but not least is my S&W 1911. I think it looks best of mine. Bob

Two slide .38 Super Combat Commander with extra .45 ACP slide...machined so the ejector doesn't have to be changed between slides...

Stainless Combat Commander shooting the Marine Corps M92 Qualification Course...

Kimber AEGIS 9mm at 50'....

1951 Colt Commander .38 Super in Hard Chrome with Nutmeg ivory grips...

Original all backed out Combat Commander in .38 Super...

1956 Colt Commander .38 Super by Dave Walters...BoMar sights and BarSto barrel...hard chrome frame..

My first Commander (1952) and second .38 Super purchased in 1980. Carried daily from 1980 till 2007... Got the gun from a co-worker whose father was a bailiff in the Texas panhandle. Gun was used in a crime and after the trial the gun was given to my friends father by the judge... This was back in the 1950s when that was common... The original grips that came on the gun were hand carved bone with a Mexican Eagle on one side and I think a steer head on the other...they unfortunately broke when a case head blue out...

This one started off as a "loaded" model Springfield Operator I picked up for around $600 when they were first released - no frills other than Novak sights and a rail for my light, as it was going to be a duty weapon. This was back when they started with the full length rails...wish I stockpiled a few of those, but that's another story..

Anyway, a few years back, it went back to the Springfield Custom Shop where Dave Williams and crew built it into what I wanted. Basically turned it into my version of the FBI HRT Professional series pistols, but with the addition of a threaded barrel for when I want to use a suppressor (no, not at work...for plinking since I have a .45 muffler that I can rotate among a few other pistols as well). I sent in the pistol with a bunch of parts, a wish list and let them go at it. It took a while, so long I honestly forgot about it, but it was well worth the wait. By far the most reliable, accurate and pleasant to shoot, +p loads and all, 1911 I've used. I still remember the day Dave Williams called from the shop saying the front sight of the set I sent in wouldn't work for point of aim and that he'd custom made a front sight to work with my duty ammunition. That's customer service! All internals upgraded, tightened slide to frame, hand checkered 25LPI front strap, checkered rear of slide to reduce glare, undercut trigger guard, Birdsong Black T finish. With hot duty loads, it's runs like a sewing machine. With standard 230gr ball ammo, it shoots so easy you can almost feel the slide go to the rear and forward again....sort of a chunk chunk for each round. Is it the last gun I will ever part with? No. Is it the best 1911 I have if I knew a fight was coming? Yes.

Hard chrome Combat Commander lower with a Caspian upper...

Sights by Carl Sokol of Vermont...

1952 9mm Commander w/MMC sights...

Drop in used bought off eBay .38 Super barrel...27 rounds at 50'..

First MechTech Carbine Conversion in .38 Super made...shoots 2" groups at 50 yards..and will run 9x23 ammo.

7" ROTO 4M barrel from SARCO...$50.00...

Shoots decent...50 yards... Colt Super Elite with an extra Combat Elite silde...

25 yards...

Top is a 70s vintage satin nickel Combat Commander..lower gun is my 1952 daily carry gun... Pretty sure that group with the Combat Commander was with the original headspace on the case rim .38 Super barrel... Now it has a BarSto and is much more accurate.

I've had a few but only have one now. A JRD Prefix Billboard with Crimson Trace grips, tactical Wilson Combat safety and padded backstrap. This is my one of my go to woods/camping guns.

I can certainly understand not shooting rare, expensive, or hard to repair guns. I had an "orthopedic episode" for a couple of months recently where I didn't feel like shooting, or much of anything else. When I got better I looked at a couple of guns I rarely shoot, thought "who am I saving them for", and took them to the range and had a great time.

Everybody's different, and other people opinions are just as valid as mine. For me, guns aren't investments, and I think my son would rather have a guns I used. Could be wrong, won't be my problem.

WOW!! Some of those collections are very impressive!

I only have two 1911's. Did have three, but gave one to my son-in-law. Anyway, here are my two.

First, my favorite of the two. A Springfield Mil-Spec. Nothing fancy but a darn good shooter.

My Ruger SR1911 in a Dave Keith barbecue rig. Another good shooter, but for some reason, I keep going back to the Springfield.

1911 show-n-tell?
I'm in! Been shooting 1911s for 50 years.
Let a few go that I wish I hadn't, but a few remain:
Amazingly soft and accurate. S&A MSH:

Colt's Wiley Clapp Concealed Carry Officer:

Colt's Combat Commander 9MM:

Colt's Government Model 38 Super:

Colt's XSE Lightweight Government Model. Best 1911 trigger I have ever had. A great shooter:

Built this one. Salvaged Colt's 1918 repro topend on a Caspian frame. Replica of a re-arsenaled 1911 I used in the Army:

Colt's Anniversary III. Wanted it in '11, finally arrived in '15. Great shooter, too:

Gold Cup National Match:

Built up Sig/GSG:

Remington R1 with a few additions. Great, accurate shooter:

My pin gun, an early "billboard" S&W I customized then had hard chromed by APW Cogan:

Thought I would add one of mine to the collection. It was custom built for me about 20yrs ago by Bruce Gray. I had it put together for USPSA LTD Class.

Caspian slide and sights. Rear is a Ghost Ring. Front is Fiber Optic.
Barrel is a Bar Sto 45 ACP.
Frame is Enterprise and is a clone of the original P14 and uses the P14 mags.
Also has full length tungsten guide rod.

Here's a few of my 5" 1911s. I could dig up some more, but I might have to assemble a few "projects", so this will have to do for now.

Les Baer Premier II .45 ACP

Kimber Desert Warrior with Surefire X200 Light
[IMG][/IMG]

Kimber Stainless TLE II (De-Activated Firing Pin Safety) with Ahrends Tulipwood Grips

That presentation grade isn't particularly rare or valuable, Colt made a batch of them at the time (mine's 0059). My only reason for not shooting it has been because I don't need to. Same reason I don't shoot my old GI Colts or my old Super. I have modern versions of both that cost less and do the same thing for me.

Maybe some day I'll decide to take it out for a spin. Maybe I'll die tomorrow. If that's the case, I doubt my last thought will be "I sure regret not shooting that pg."

If I still have it or any of the others when its time to pass them on, my children will appreciate them fired or not.

My two Supers, a 1929 and a newer version. Haven't pulled the trigger on the old one, the reason why I bought the new one.

A refinished '43 Colt with Rand slide. This one I DO shoot, its a heckuva lot of fun and I'm not too worried about anything happening to it. Its one I let others use when they want to try out an old GI pistol and I've never had anyone say "nah I don't like that."

Unfortunately it has some deep pitting under the finish but I got it pretty cheap and its still a fun pistol.

Those pics remind me of these old grips that came to me in a box of misc stuff. Either pretty worn or poorly made, I'm not sure. I also don't know what the material is or where they were made.

Hey TAROMAN, that's the Clapp I have on law-a-way coming home next weekend. Great collections to all posters, makes me jealous. Here's my throw in at current. The last two are cousins (grad presents I customized) under my care while my 2 sons are in Japan on deployment.

How are those Sigs running for you?
I'm tempted by the TME in 38 Super.

Absolutely love them, don't get me wrong, I love Colts, but as you know they can be hit and miss on fitment. Not the Sigs, here's the target the first time out with the Tac-Ops (nitron one) out of the box, they are scary accurate. Those are two groups of ragged holes.

Here's one from Ed Brown - an early one before he did his own frames.
This frame was from Les Baer.

Here's an older Colt from the Custom shop about 20 yrs old or so. They called it the Custom Comp based on the Government model. Great polish and yes, the grips didn't come with it.

Lastly - here's one of the offerings from the late John Nowlin called the Match Master. The finish is hard chrome. The grips weren't part of the package.

Got some likes so I thought I'd show the other side.
ACW work included:
-Round-butt (didn't want a full "bob-tail")
-Front strap checkering and matching checkered MSH
-New night sites (when I bought my Loaded they came with standard Novak-style 3-dots, not "night")
-Carry cuts (to remove FCS)
-Single-side TS
-Bead blasted finish
-Alchemy worked over the existing internals and it came back to me noticeably smoother and slicker
