Colt Frontier Gun Show Purchase
I know this is the Smith & Wesson forum, but I had to share.
Purchased this Colt Frontier yesterday for $434.00. The serial number (1477xxF) dates out to 1961. Came with the appropriate box (no serial number on box, but I truly believe original), the 125th Anniversary Colt Medal (shipped with all Colts that year), the owners manual, envelope for the factory test target (no target), NRA enrollment card (right vintage), the proper cleaning rod, and a flyer for the Las Vegas Hotel Sahara Walk-and-Draw Quick Draw Championship dated November 17-18-19, 1961.
The pistol has some holster wear, but I would rate it at 90% or better. I think I did well!!!

$434 sounds like a good price to me. Haven't kept up with these much but was offered one (without box and papers) last week for $700. Last one I bought was five years ago (without box/papers) for $325. Enjoy.

Colt
I'm curious, so what is a Colt Frontier? 44-40 WCF or 45 Long Colt?

It's a Frontier 'Scout', a smaller .22 LR version of the SAA. The "Frontier Six-Shooter" was the .44-40 version of the SAA.

Wow. First gun I ever owned was a Frontier Scout. 1965. What a nice gun. Wish I still had it. I have recently seen quite a few of them at gun shows. That price sounds right. You've got a gem.

Done some further research, seems Colt sponsored a Quick Draw competition at the Hotel Sahara in Las Vegas in 1959, 1960 and 1961. Seems Colt presented and sold products during the competitions. Looks like I'm going to have to pay for a Colt letter.
