Ruger Single Action Revolver Photos-Show Us Yours
I searched the forums and found many Ruger threads, but no photo thread for the various single action models. So, show us your Blackhawks, Single-Sixes, Bearcats, Super Blackhawks and Old Army model revolvers!
My Ruger Single Action collection now consists of these fine shooters, all wearing vintage Herrett's Shooting Star grips except for one!
2005 Lipsey's Flattop New Model Blackhawk .44 Special, 5.5 inch, with Hogue Cowboy grips. Can't find Herrett's for the New-Old XR3 frame!
New ModelSuper Blackhawk .44 Magnum with the 4.62 inch tube. 2010 production.
Early 1980's New Model Blackhawk Convertible .45 Colt/.45 ACP, 4.62 inch with a Hamilton Bowen rear sight. my favorite Ruger revolver!
Mid 1970's New Model Blackhawk .357 Magnum, 4.62 inch.
Stainless steel Super Single-Six Convertible .22LR/.22WMR with the 6.5 inch barrel. Early 1990's production.
The long one! 9.5 inch barrel Super Single-Six Convertible. Mid 1980's production and my wife's favorite single action.

This is my favorite NMBH. It is a 5.5" SS .45 Colt with a .45 ACP cylinder modified to also take .45 AR. It has Eagle Gunfighter checkered grips because I typically use this gun with mouse fart CAS type loads. Both cylinders have been reamed and it is very accurate with both. For range work, I typically use light charges of Titegroup in the AR cases.

I have recently rekindled my enthusiasm with Ruger Single Action Revolvers, picked up this stainless Super Blackhawk a few months ago:
A "Threepersons" style holster I got of Ebay:

Here's a couple of my favorites.
Ruger Vaquero in .44 Magnum: (This gun is awesome! The more I handle it, the more I like It. It's a serious chunk of steel, but I like that.)
Old Model Ruger Super Blackhawk with rare MR3-DB brass frame. Somebody tricked this one out.

One of my favorite old and prized possessions....my Uncle's Ruger .22 Single Six. Countless hours of shooting and walks in the woods have taken a toll. Still shoots like a dream....tight as a drum, and carrys up well.
First handgun I ever fired. He purchased it at the local army surplus/gun store in 1956.

Nice arms all. No single actions in my arsenal as of now. I now see a need to rectify that situation.

I have a pile of .45 ACP cases of dubious ancestry, with lengths that vary a lot. No problem in a 1911, but the AR cases cycle a lot more smoothly for me in the Rugers, and I don't like using moon clips in the 625.
A few more: 7.5" .45, 6.5" .357 and 6.5" .22.

Some fine Rugers gentlemen! I do like Ruger single actions but only ever owned one. I prefer the plow handled grips because they just look right unlike the bisleys.

Always had a soft spot for Ruger SA's. My first handgun at 16 years old was a Single Six. My favorite handgun for a little woods walking / plinking is a Bearcat.
Pictured are three .44 mag's showing the three basic different grip styles.

I think I have photos of mine......I still have 2 Vaqueros (old style), a Single Six .22 (original; no transfer bar) and a Single Six .22 Magnum. I sold my two .44-40 Vaqueros.
I see I don't have pictures of the .22s.....

Here's an early 60s Single six marked ".22 Magnum" and has a .22 LR cylindeer. Kind of like a reverse convertable. Grip is the early XR3 with that nice varnished wood. And a sheep horn gripped unconverted 1969 Super Blackhawk.
My first handgun and holster...

Okay, so, this single Six technically is not mine. Belongs to my oldest daughter, Sarah. I converted it to a birdshead grip to fit her hand better. And a picture of her at age 15 with it. That was an awesome day!

I agree with your opinions of the Bisley grip. I did not have one and after hearing from the folk who do and how well it handles felt recoil and such I decided to give one a try. Last year I ran across the one pictured in my previous post on this thread, a scarce as it turns out 4 5/8th inch "full size" SS Vaquero Bisley in .45 Colt, box and all for a good price.
Well after shooting the snot out of it with heavy 270gr loads I was not all that impressed with the grip. Recoil felt harder as it comes straight back more than the plow handle grip I've shot for a lot of years. Well that's why I guess they make more than one style of grips, ya run what you like!

This is old picture 1964, when I was 14. These represent a lot of
grass mowings, snow shoveling, and coal shoveling. This was the
same year I saw the light and switched to S&Ws. Still have a few
and pick one up occasionally. Lost interest in them when they
brought out the new models.

A 5 1/2" Single Six.
I ordered the holster from Lawrence after I bought the .41 Magnum.

I told myself that I would not own any New Model Rugers. And then Lipseys commissioned a run of .44 Special Flat Tops made on the smaller .357 Blackhawk frame and with a steel Bisley grip frame and steel ejector rod housing. They thankfully stamped the horrid, defacing safety warning on the bottom of the barrel where you forget it is there. I couldn't resist and it is a great shooter. Stocks are cocobolo from Esmeralda.

I am not a fan of two-tone revolvers, but for some reason that escapes me, I always thought Jeff Cooper's Super Blackhawk was particularly handsome. It was blue, had custom grips, and the cylinder was re-finished in Armoloy, which gave the cylinder the appearance of matte stainless. Perhaps it was the business-like appearance of a working revolver used for real for hunting. I do not have a picture of the revolver. If any of you have a picture of it, feel free to post it.

This is an old, considerably modified, SBH that I've had for many years. I've posted it here before. I worked this over to better suit my needs for carrying in big bear country back when I lived in the Yellowstone area. Thankfully, I never had to see how well it would work on a griz with a heavy, hardcast bullet!

I have quite a few, but not a lot of pics. I'll look for some more. Here's a John Gallagher conversion of an OM flattop .357 to .44 special. Love this gun - my perfect packing pistol, whose only real competition in that department is my 4" S&W M-24-3.
New Model 50th Anniversary Flattop .44:
Old Model .30 Carbine s.n. 700
Old Army, the .30 Carbine again, and bottom is an OM Flattop .44 in the scarcer 7 1/2" barrel. It has a steel gripframe and later production grips, as you can see.
Old Model Super Single Six, custom work by John Gallagher again. Cut to 4 5/8", post/bead front and wide V notch rear sight.
I got a few more, but that's what I can lay hands on for pics right now. Just bought another OM Super Blackhawk .44 that's been cut to 4 5/8", I'm a sucker for a short-barreled .44.
