Rpg's about right I think as far as value for your shotgun. Being refinished frame and an added pad, but still a good shooter.
If it has ejectors instead of plain extractors it'll add to that. A stock configuration of straight grip and a beavertail forend will add more premium again.
There were 2 different Hercules SxS's,,
The first used a monobloc bbl design. Easiest to tell by the markings on the frame sides. They are identicle on both sides being the IJ company name and address.
The second version used a forged bbl, no monobloc.
One side of the frame has 'I.J Forged Steel' or something close to that,,no company address. The other side has the same marking as the first version.
A few of either will be found with Canadian, Cobourg, Ontario address on them along with the IJ markings. That was the Cooey Mfg plant. They assembled some of these for IJ over the years.
There's a 3rd version,,the SKEET-ER,,marked as such on both sides. A dedicated skeet gun they bring more than the plain Hercules. Pretty much the same action but some differences inside. Could be special ordered w/some special features to fit the shooter.
Excellent condition versions of the first 2 styles in 410ga can bring 2K with ejectors, st grip, ect. One just recently sold for nearly $2500 IIRC.
But condition and originality being everything in that collector $$, a plain shooter with a few alterations goes down in price pretty quickly not unlike opther firearms.
410 SxS's are quite sought after and the IJ line of Hercules and Skeet-er guns have a good following. Well built, simple and strong.
I have a 12ga Skeet-er in here now for a new stock and forend. I was pleasently surprised at how well built and fitted the action and ejector assemblys are.
