Ruger Security Six 2-3/4"
Now that I have finally worked out my computer bugs, I wanted to share the Ruger Security Six snub that I scored from Bud's in Lexington about a month ago. The last pic is with the Tyler T-grip I ordered for it, which greatly improves the grip using the original grip panels. Haven't been able to shoot it yet, but hopefully will in the next couple weeks.

Those are great revolvers...probably one of the most undervalued (market wise) revolvers in the last forty years. Congratulations on a good buy.

Great find, I love the six series! I'm lucky to have a 4"&2 3/4" security and my favorite a2 3/4" speed six, all in SS. Bigly underrated, simple to take apart and built like a tank! How many handguns are made to disassemble with only a dime? Lucky to find a good one under $500 lately.
Good luck with yours

I love the six series Rugers. Just can’t seem to find any around here lately. I have been looking for a Security for a while. Here’s a picture of my Speed.

That did it! You folks with stainless snub Speed Six revolvers have given me a new "grail gun" to hope for. Note I did not say "look," as there are none to be seen... any Six revolvers. My 3" bbl Wiley Clapp GP100 is a smooth gun and a reasonable substitute, but I find the frame to be too big for EDC.

Congratulations! I sure wouldn't mind having 1 like it! I bought a brand new 4 incher in 1976. Kept it a couple of years & sold it. It was Bi-Centennial marked. Was $157 new then. Bob

To my knowledge, they are early Eagle Sambar grips, likely late 70's, early 80's - I lucked in to a local to me seller on E-bay who had sold his Ruger collection and no longer needed these grips.
They are thick, but feel good in the hand and lend to a great purchase on the revolver while shooting.

A BLUED 2 3/4" SPEED SIX HERE.
With finger grooved rubber grips it makes a very comfortable, good in the hand feel/pointable magnum shooter, OWB belt carry field gun. Tight lock up, good trigger. A fantasy of removing ALL the warning stampings, re-bluing to a deep/rich blue, nice custom grips, would make one very good looking BBQ type gun, If you don't mind spending more "pimping" it than the original cost.

I just bought a stainless 4" Security Six a couple of days ago because the Smith .357s were so high priced. Didn't really want the Ruger but it was only $400 in excellent condition and the wood service grips fit me fine and Smiths always need target stocks. The action is really smooth but the hammer and trigger return springs seem much stouter than necessary and I saw a Wolf spring kit at Midway for about 9 bucks so I think i'll try one of those.

Love the speed hammer! A bobbed hammer is just a bobbed hammer, but a speed hammer is old school cool.
This one I bought for my Dad, as a gift for being Best Man at my wedding. The same day I bought myself my first J frame, a stainless no lock model 60.

I have been tempted by two of the short, adjustable sight versions of the Ruger. Wish, now, that I'd given in.
Only saw those two in many years of looking.

I have a gf-32 police service six 2 3/4" barrel in stainless since 1976. I have to say these service six series are one of the best 357's out there. A few years back I stole one from my LGS a security six in 357mag/6" barrel in blue in excellent condition for $199. I caught them just putting it in the case. I didn't give it a chance to grow roots. It's the only used one I ever saw. Great revolvers seem to become more and more rare.
For you non ruger guys and gals give one a shot you may like it.

If you can find them, the factory target grips are really nice in the hand.

Thanks for the comments, all. Nice pics of speed six's as well! Just for good measure, here is the Speed Six snub I obtained about 1-1/2 years ago, and it's not going anywhere, either. I got the Herrett's for it a little later.
I'm really becoming fond of the six series, especially the security six's as I am a fan of adjustable sights. I'm going to start keeping an eye out for a 4" and 6" version.

I have a 6" SS Security Six I bought in the 80's (161-), for a lot of years it was the only handgun/revolver I owned. My SHTF friend.
Picked up a 4" blued a couple of years ago, then found this .38Spl Speed Six last year at a gun show.

Great pick up & you got a good deal on it. I seen that gun in Buds right before Christmas & would have probably bought it but they had a 38/44 Transitional I picked up instead.

Right before Christmas?? I can't believe it lasted that long. They even dropped the price $50 for me! Wish that 38/44 was there, I probably would have snagged that, too. Hope you got a good price on it.
